Patti Smith - Easter: More of a standard rock album than Horses. Still has the attitude though.
X Ray Spex - Germfree Adolescents:  "I drove my polypropylene car on wheels of sponge. Then pulled into a wimpy bar to have a rubber bun."
Flotsam & Jetsam - The End of Chaos: A 2019 thrash album. There's something about a bunch of 50-something year old guys singing 'bout monsters and demolition men destroying the world and stuff that makes me think "it's alright man, ya' ain't so old."
This Mortal Coil - It'll End in Tears: Starting off with three croony ballads makes track 4, "Fyt", sound more forward-thinking...like industrial trip-hop 10 years before it was a thing. Otherwise, it really is the Liz and Lisa show.

As for The Young Ones, I haven't seen it in decades, but I remember some of it being really funny except when the muppet/puppet characters pop in (they kind of grind the humour to a halt. For the bands, I only remember Motorhead (of course), Madness and some band playing a zippy version of a Dylan tune.

Big Dipper | Supercluster: the Big Dipper Anthology (I remember hearing about these guys back in college, and took a chance on a cheap 3 disc CD set today. Sounds great so far. Creative 80s indie college rock. Very excited to dig in further)

Kevin Ayers | Best of Kevin Ayers (one of my favorite “best of” comps.)

Harry Pussy | Ride a White Dove (pure noisy fury. Not pleasant but necessary. They are pictured in my avatar btw)
Harry Pussy | A Real New England F*k Up (more of the same)

Michael Hoenig | Departure from the Northern Wasteland - my go-to comfort food album

Picchio dal Pozzo | s/t - true magic

The Coolies | Doug

The Muffins | Manna/Mirage

The Beach Boys | In Concert (1972/73 tours. Great live band at this point)

Soft Machine | Third

The Hospitals | Hairdryer Peace

Lamborghini Crystal | Dial 747-Creepazoid

Damn, that's quite the day there Steve!  Smile

Elton John - 21 at 33
Lou Reed - Sally Can't Dance
Cherry Glazerr - Stuffed and Ready

Pretty luke warm on that particular Elton title, although Little Jeanie is a guilty pleasure track that I still love. The Lou was okay. The Cherry may grow on me, but the album is a disappointment after the awesome Apocalipstick

Never heard of that Harry group.....LOL

Yeah Jim, that Sally album was a little bit of a let down after the earlier stuff, but yep ok.

Still have not listening to no albums this week (still on butler duties and work), although I did watch the "Talking Heads - Chronology" DVD.
Quite the interesting career.

This Mortal Coil - Filigree & Shadow: Atmosphere up the wazoo. Maybe it's because of the lack of high profile singers, but there's more cohesion here than the debut, and despite the numerous interludes and instrumentals, this thing just flows so well much of the time, especially early on. "Tarantula" is spooky heaven, and those vocals on "My Father" are no joke. My fav of their albums. There's even a Van Morrison cover!

This Mortal Coil - Blood: I like "You and Your Sister", in that it's cool to hear Kim Deal get the full-on "ethereal" treatment, but I ultimately found this outing rather taxing. The instrumental buggers felt like production exercises rather than songs, and I found much of the songs with vocals somewhat lacking. In the early to mid 80's, TMC sounded ahead of their time; in 1991, they sound kinda dated. They could've done so much with the Syd Barrett "Late Night" tune...as it was tailor-made for a gothic dream-pop revamp, but they didn't really pull it off.

Damn, now I wanna listen to X Ray Spex again.

^ I hadn't read it before, it was before my time here. Great work, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I'm sure a lot of these stories weren't known before. I enjoy very much the debut but I still don't have the second.
