This site is a prog rock site? Am I correct? Because most of the people who dont like Watcher of the skies , should really be on a beyonce site or whatever...

Wow! You take it all too seriously. We don't all like the same stuff. This would be a really boring forum if everyone agreed with everyone else and if everyone liked the Genesis songs you like! Live and let live dude! And you might live longer! Lots of people don't like the prog I like but I'm not so rude as to tell them to go to a Beyonce site!

I just want to see & hear Side 3 & 4 of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway. I'd be so happy to leave a concert venue with the melody of "It" stuck in my brain, enervating the spring in my gait.
And, no, please no "Watcher in the Skies"!

I was going to throw in a lot of commentary, but I'll just go with my list instead:
Stagnation The Knife Return of the Giant Hogweed Twilight Alehouse Can-Utility and the Coastliners After the Ordeal Battle of Epping Forest (because it makes me giddy) Fly on a Windshield/ Anyway The Lamia |

I'm not aware that prog had many 'casual listeners'. The average man on the street is just lead by fashion and wanting to be 'cool' in truth.

I can understand why this might not be everyone's cup of tea . I sometimes prefer the shorter edited version just to cut out that very long intro. However once it gets going its great , especially Collins who is in top form.

Of course it has, it is only big fans of "prog" that call it "prog" Most people call it what it actually is, pop or rock. And most music listeners are the oppositie of what you suggest, they just like the music they don't care about the fashons or what is trendy or about being cool. It is really only those within sub-cultures and certain lifestyles that do that. Something that made me laugh the other day, not sure if it was on this forum or another one, but someone started a thread about "prog T-shirts" Really?

Most prog is not pop. Casual listeners do not enjoy long(er) songs, they do not know artists beyond their hits (which sometimes annoys me, I'll admit that), they only listen to what it's spoon-fed to them in the mainstream. Someone was asking on facebook a while ago - "what app is good these days to listen to music?" and I saw red, which rarely happens to me.

^ Nail on head. Of course its all about subjective opinion, but anybody who sits outside a FK concert while they are performing GOD, which I think is a bit too short for my liking, aint having an opinion which I link with a symphonic prog fan..

If you don't like long songs, dont go to a FK concert. My youngest son tends to like some really strange stuff. So perhaps its a generational thing. Symphonic prog for the fifties++...You get that demographic in the audiences definately...

I was trying to figure out what is FK (if anything, to me it means Freak Kitchen), but I think you mean The Flower Kings, that's TFK for me.

Yes. The FKs...I refer to as the Flokis...or FK. Perhaps long hand is better for comprehension...

I have seen about four or five different Genesis tribute acts...None of them has considered extending the best bits, go one beyond your show so to speak...

If your audience is accustomed to Collins-era covers, I think these would be the easiest for them to digest:
