It was mostly a `background listen' at work, so I couldn't pay too close attention. It's still good, but I think the stronger stuff is in the first half. Will listen closer properly again soon.

After a bit of unnecessary genre tribal infighting elsewhere on the forum of late, I thought I'd step out of my comfort zone today.....

While I imagine I'm never going to be listening to a lot of RIO, Krautrock etc. in the near future, it was a refreshing experience still. I do quite like Can's groove, and have to say that Magma's sound is strangely hypnotic and very immersive (reminded me of Carmina Burana in places). All are challenging listens compared to my usual symphonic prog, neo-prog, cross-over prog preferences, but nice to know it's out there still. Let's be thankful prog offers so much choice and not get hung up on genres.

Finishing off with some albums I used to find challenging, but which I've warmed to considerably over recent months or years ... (it's all comparative, I suppose)

Jethro Tull - A Passion Play
VdGG - Pawn Hearts
Gryphon - Midnight Mushrumps (although this has been a favourite for a while now)

^Something to do with age? I have noticed I can´t remember the songs from the albums I have started listen after I become over 40 so good as before. Maybe also I listened earlier lesser albums and much more times.

Good question. I have a playlist I use for exercise, and both “Flight of the Ibis” and “Is She Waiting” are on that playlist, so I hear those 2 songs a lot. So I just decided to skip side A (usually my preferred side) and play the relatively underappreciated Birdman suite instead.

Letters to Cleo - Up!: Ever in the mood for some competent yet unremarkable power pop with cute female vocals? Me neither, but I checked this out anyways for some reason. It's not bad actually...the kind of stuff Josie and the Pussycats would jam on.
