Thank you very much for that detailed explanation, BaldJean! Having seen that pic for a while, it's nice to have some background info. Is it just the two of you or are there more? And what inspired you and BaldFriede to add the "bald" aspect?

the baldness is natural. alopecia universalis, an autoimmune disorder. any hair is regarded as not belonging to the body by the immune system and rejected, even the eyelashes and nostril hairs. Friede and I met in a self-help group. there is not a single hair on us anywhere, not even the finest fluff.
but somehow the hairlessness could also be seen as a symbol of purity. the ancient Egyptian priests actually believed this, which is why they removed every single hair from their bodies. I know this because I studied history and specialized in ancient. in this light the lack of hair appears to be quite fitting for us as High Priestesses Edited by BaldJean - February 28 2018 at 15:25 |

I see. I didn't realize alopecia was the cause, I thought it was a voluntary choice. And you're correct about the Egyptians' hairlessness.

it is the most radical case of alopecia. it can have several causes - genetic disposition, hormonal changes (some women experience this during a pregnancy), stress or traumatic experiences. with me it was probably stress, though a traumatic experience may somehow be involved too. with Friede it was definitely a traumatic experience

Well, I'm glad you're both okay now, and successful, and are here to contribute your musical expertise. I know every time I run across one of your posts, or BaldFriede's, the forum is a little richer.

we actually use our lack of hair to advertise for our restaurant. our slogan is "the restaurant where you can be certain no hair is in the soup"

Herbs are righteous. I presume the knowledge she passes on factors into your cuisine. Do you serve anything spicy?

we are decidedly not vegan, precisely because we are into nature and its ways. if you look at the human body you will find that is not designed for a vegetarian diet but for a mixed diet, else the structure of the teeth and the digestive tract would be completely different; the digestive tract would have to be much longer so we would all be potbellied. also we lack a lot of enzymes that a vegetarian would have, for example an enzyme that could crack cellulose. Gaia is not only a kind Goddess; if you are familiar with Greek mythology you are aware of it. we do however not engage in the sacrifice of animals. and before we eat we thank the animals, plants and mushrooms for partaking of them. and we eat only ecological food |

I honestly don't think I could go totally meatless, if I wanted to (and I don't, lol). We're meant to be omnivores. Our GI tract is too short for us to be vegetarians, as BaldJean points out.

I have been vegetarian over 20 years. I eat milkproducts, eggs and fish. I canīt even think to eat meat these days, although liked it a lot before starting vegetarian. The fact is about 50 years there will not be much meat to eat (also milk products, we used a lot oatmilk into our foods, I havenīt ever liked real milk so I havenīt drink it much ever and not drink it all at the moment, eat only chocolate and cheeses, love them!).

As you will have seen, I have deleted my avatar - because the band has broken up. It had been sabotaged by our lead guitarist who had been hiding his hard-right leanings (myself, I am rather a green liberal) - but eventually, I was frustrated by the lack of progress and called for a break, and when I found out about his political stance and his Nazi friends (also, he is professionally involved in the recent car exhaust scandal), I turned that into a permanent quit.

In leap years we have a leap day which follows immediately after New Year's Day and does also not belong to any month or week. |

(Reading this as I'd just bumped into some lyrics with a line about "becoming a wise hair that renounces to [falling into] soup"...) Anyone name any other restaurant that can afford this slogan !
