Don Bradshaw-Leather | The Distance Between Us — thanks again to David for introducing this into my life, and I envy him insanely for actually owning a copy...
Styx | Paradise Theater — not bad for the morning drive. The hits are great. Faux Fur | s/t — an offshoot of indie pop group Women, I think. Interesting guitar work Guerilla Toss | GT Ultra — a recent favorite of mine, like a Deerhoof/B-52s hybrid. One of my fav 2017 albums. Pretty accessible, thou earlier albums are punkier and weirder Monks of Doom | The Insect God EP — more Monks. Loved this band in the 90s. Title track may be their ultimate epic Ian Dury & the Blockheads | Do it Yourself — just a cool guy. Dr. Demento | Dr. Demento Covered in Punk — amazing new compilation of punk covers of Demento classics. The highlight is Brak (from. Space Ghost) singing Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies. Holy mother of god. Black Mountain | s/t — their first and best IMO. Classic rock albums still appear now and then. Melt-Banana | Scratch or Stitch — incredible Japanese madness. What genre is this anyway? The Residents | Our Tired, our Poor, our Huddled Masses — a fine 2 disc anthology from the 90s which covers some 80s material I don’t otherwise have Edited by HolyMoly - February 15 2018 at 17:46 |

The Cheer Accident album sounded really good on the first couple of listens, I just haven’t revisited it since. Not as immediate as the last couple of albums but the same genius is definitely there. |

Just one album today, In The Court of the Crimson King.
Honestly, I'm pretty tired of side 1 of this, but I can't get over how perfect side 2 is - especially Moonchild! Also, does anyone else hear a melody from Exiles during some of the instrumental breaks in the title track?

^Never thought that, but now when you´re saying it, you´re right! Anyway that part works to me really well in both songs.

You passed up Lotus on vinyl? You're crazy Nahh truth be told I had no idea about the album before I got it together with Moonflower and another live one from Fillmore 1968. It took me completely by surprise, and is effectively wholly responsible for me not spinning Caravanserai for years. Every now and again I return to that Khan album (mostly because Khan is pronounced the same as the Danish female name Karen), and much like you is reminded of just how good and infectious it is. You're right it's also pretty cool to hear Hillage in a younger and more naive version. I feel like spinning Fish Rising all of a sudden. I took a chance with Flower Power a little while back and felt much the same. How did you like Avec Le Soleil Sortant De Sa Bouche? I feel kinda responsible for that one |

As a child of the 80s you should know better Steve. It's obviously the ghost in the machine. If all else fails, trust Sting. I'm glad you're still enjoying the Don...and yes I do have a copy, but I am almost a hundred percent certain it's a bootleg. Bought in Valetta airport Malta no less Man I wasn't ready for the Don at that time...but somehow in a beautiful strange Nostradamusque way, I must've known that my tastebuds soon were to be replaced with all new receptors. Yes those Fukushima Surfer Boys should do you some good. I'd bet a beet on it. |

Can i be Honest too? i'm pretty tired of that record both sides.Never found it so magic or a masterpiece. perhaps this is due to the simply fact i'm getting sick of most of the /70 typical prog stuff. Everything sounds a bit ancient nowadays, sometimes even tedious. tired of fables, epping forests end Fantasy Hystories. Really prefer Neo-progressive and anything gone after 1981. lyrics are not so faraway from our current society. About ITCOCK i don't like the final reprise. i'd really prefer if the LP would ending with the fake first final, which sounds more epic. By my side give me "trespass" everyday. everything is strictly IMHO. "no OP infringements are intended!" |

Court is masterpiece. Of course I haven´t listened it a lot many years, but always when I listened it, it just sounded great to me. I don´t think there has made many albums after seventies that is as great as it is.

Genesis | A Trick of the Tail — still amazes after all these years
Ut Gret | Recent Fossils — recent grab. Especially enjoyed their hour-long take on Terry Riley’s “In C” Shonen Knife | Minna Tannoshiku — A bit of Japanese fun Sun City Girls | Valentines from Matahari — a great noisy free jazzy effort from those nuts Savoy Motel | s/t. — Nashville indie rock band I saw as an opening band last year and their sole album has become one of my most played albums. Just adorable white funk with a drummer I have a huge crush on. Just get a load of Jessica: Magma | Theusz Hamtaakh Trilogie —. Only got thru the first part of the trilogy today. Work interfered. Lenny Bruce | The Real Lenny Bruce — Lenny on vinyl. With poster inside. Great double album of well-chosen highlights from his 50s/60s albums. I love this guy. That Ayers is probably my favorite of his, with Sweet Deceiver running a close second. |

Beefheart’s Unconditionally Guaranteed isn’t bad at all, though it is my least favorite of his albums. I give Bluejeans a slight edge over it. As for Magma, They’ve always been a top-tier prog group for me. I saw them in their first US appearance in San Fran in 1999 (at Prog Fest), and I count it among the highlights of my life, musical or otherwise. They played Kohntarkosz, Hhai, and MDK. |
