Well, I think the Remembering is really great maybe even greater than the Revealing. Second album is hit & miss to me too.

I'm not sure what it is but I always zone out about a minute into The Remembering. I've enjoyed Tales 2 times in my life - I was drunk as a skunk on both occasions. These days I can't afford to get wasted in order for me to enjoy an album. I hate myself the day after

So, on a scale from "Holy sh*t!" to "HOLY GODDAMN f**k!!!" how was it? Cool
That was crazy. I can't say I enjoyed it all the way through but I'm definitely glad to now have this frantic and unnerving work of art.

EDIT - turns out i actually listened to The Litanies of Satan... oh well Embarrassed

Well, I hope you sometimes listen the Remembering all through, because if I remember (heh) right, it started with quite sleepy part, but changes a lot better when getting forward. I haven´t also listened Tales a lot, but I think it was my fourth or something listening when I found out the remembering great. The last "Ritual" has one of the boring moments in prog - "nussuuussoleel" or whatever Jon sings (nussi is f**k in finnish), also that really boring drum part.

But don´t throw me with something nasty if you still think it was waste of time to listening it whole through!

Listen two the second record separately, side B is the least interesting one, in my opinion.

Thanks I'll definitely remember nussiLOL
Somehow reminds me of nutella...

It's funny. Every time I mention how little I get out of Tales there's at least a couple of people trying to get me into spinning it yet againLOL Maybe I'll pick a more modern Yes album next time around...like From Silence To Somewhere.

Great to see Stevie receiving some spins in here. I love that man to bits.

Looking pretty German there Samuel. Even the Italian album there is oddly German soundingLOL (Yeah ok Rage is about as far removed from the Germans it literally boggles the mind...and Traffic were known to eat a lot of bratwursts if I remember correctly)
Have you come to terms witht he vocals on that Out Of Focus album? Still the biggest hurdle for me. The music is outstanding.

This morning and afternoon:
Tangerine Dream - Official Bootleg Series Vol 1
Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus
Griot - Gerald
Chaz Bundik - Star Stuff

^I don´t if this is going to upsetting but if you want to do that thing to somebody you have to say "Saanko nussia sinua". Probably the one you are asking it here in Finland will slap your face.

Well, I think it´s not the greatest time spending to listen Topograph. But I don´t know, although it isn´t even near of greatness of Yes Album and Fragile, there is something magic on it. Some way I like it more than Relayer or Going For the one. It´s long time I´ve listened it, I think I will listen it maybe today or tomorrow. It is of course possible I will say "such a waste of time".

^Have you heard their most recent one?
Definitely the best since Relayer imho:

I think I'll lay low with the nussi until I properly master the Finnish lingo. I am well on my way. I can already count to three!! Yksi kaksi kolme. Best count to three in ANY language imo. Almost musical.

^I'm going to spin that Neu! album next. I think maybe David Bowie found something to his liking...I certainly hear a little something something on Heroes that harks back to this beauty. Then again 75 probably laid down the blueprint to thousands of rock albums during the latter part of the 70s. I hear new wave and post-punk at their finest...before they even existed.
Heh the same comment fits LA Düsseldorf now that I think of itLOL

LOL Yes, I think it´s safe. Nussi is really rude word in Finnish. Can you put how´s counting three in Danish? I know it´s in Swedish ett två trä.

Funny how Finnish is the only oddball lingo in Scandinavia. I perfectly understand Swedish and Norwegian but Finnish is like this weird combo of what to me sounds like Hungarian, Nynorsk and Russian. Beautiful yes...but bizarre. If I met a Swede and a Norwegian we could all communicate in our native tongues and understand each other perfectly (almost. add in some alcohol and things start to get a little muddy).

Danish: En, To, Tre
Our numbers only make sense up until 49. From there on it gets to be very confusing to foreigners mostly because we don't really understand it ourselves.

Yes. We were coming here from somewhere near Volga river (or at least our language had come from there). And the Sami people were first. Swedish is the second language, but I can´t say to be good in it (I would like to be, not haven´t got anyone to talk that). I think it´s quite sad even one of our president candidates can`t talk Swedish. And those rare times I have been in Åland Islands (our mostly Swedish island) or in Sweden, I have talked English.

It´s funny, how there are differences in counting in languages. It´s quite simple in Swedish. But in Germany it´s also a little odd. Then again Amharic, that is spoken in Ethiopia, although the language is really difficult, counting is really easy.

Yeah but how many Swedes speak Finnish?Wink

definitely agree about counting. The French are some of the worst offenders in that they incorporate mathematics to get past a certain number. 90 is effectively 4 times 20 plus 10ConfusedLOL

In Danish the number 50 is pronounced 'halvtreds' or halv treds meaning half treds. Treds though means 60 so halvtreds half of treds should be 30. And yeah the list goes on and on. It is actually rather amusing to think about...and what perhaps is the most fun about it is that no Danish person ever thinks about this. All the people I've ever mentioned this to had never ever thought of it. I guess I just like to mess about with the language and pull it apart and make up new stuff as I go along. Some times though it doesn't need changing at all to become bizarre. Our number system fx does that all by itself.

Oh well probably best to get back on track. Sorry for derailing the threadEmbarrassed

There are immigrants from Finland who speak. I don´t think native Swedish people speak much.

Also, I tried to speak Finnish in Ålands Island when ordering a meal in Hesburger. There are Hesburges all over Finland, so naturally I though the all their staff can Finnish. He didn´t understand me or then wanted not understand me. I confused and start to speak English. I think if I had decided I will speak Swedish, I would have tried it.

It was a shocker but fortunately he doesn't sing that much.

Great day! I just don't know the last one.
