Is that YMO one any good, Sam? I came across it in my recent LP alphabetical tidy-up, but haven't played it in years.

Last night's choices:

Tangerine Dream – Exit
Oberon – A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Morpheus - Rabenteuer
Tangerine Dream - Exit
Premiata Forneria Marconi – Paper Charms (live) (disc 1)
Premiata Forneria Marconi – Chocolate Kings
Satin Whale – Lost Mankind

Eden – Erwartung - such a special album from '78, it's like a German RPI disc! Lovely choral vocals, big symphonic orchestrations, lovely flute and violin. It might also have one of the most silken productions I've ever heard on a Seventies disc, and some of the warmest male/female voices on a German prog disc ever. Such a classy lavish work, very special.

Listened to that one today. I totally agree; great recommendation!

I also listened to these albums, for an all-symphonic start to the weekend:

SBB - Memento z Banalnym Tryptykiem
Finch - Beyond Expression
Novalis - Novalis
Yes - Tales From Topographic Oceans - People say this album would work as a single disc. That's true; pick any two tracks off of it, keep each one as is, and slap each one on a side of vinyl and you'd still have the best symphonic prog album ever recorded! Wink (Then you could take the other two and it would make for an equally great follow up!)
when i was a kid a doller was worth ten dollers - now a doller couldnt even buy you fifty cents

Awesome, mate, glad you loved it! This was a blind-buy I made, so I'm pleasantly surprised that it turned out well! I love buying the more unknown vintage stuff, I think I like the idea of having a big collection of more obscure titles as opposed to endlessly buying reissues of the classics!

But this one has definitely proven to be a very special one!

Sam, no, although I certainly realise the cover, think I saw it mentioned on a blog site a few years ago, thank you. Did you pick this up recently? Will give the Youtube clip of it a spin when I get home!

I'm in shock !!   My (conservative) sister was curious as to why I'm listening to Nile.
Played a chunk of the album, In Their Darkened Shrines, to her - she respects the Ancient Egyptian concept and cinematic ideals, up until the growls. Unfortunately, Growl-Vox are an acquired taste. I do agree. The weakest element of some music I listen to. But they are there, I accept them, it's fine. I get where they're coming from, what they're aiming at.... She loves Akerfeldt when he doesn't growl. This is too awesome for me.....
....Maiden - Brave New World
Anthrax - Among The Lving
(Impressive enough my Sis loves Maiden, and, I guess, can handle Anthrax "coz Belladonna has an awesome voice "
