An ex of mine was Russian, from Volgograd. She had some strange ideas.
We were talking about the Teletubbies. "Yes, I know this, it's called "Telepuzeki" and it's a Russian programme", she said.
"It's made by the BBC", I said.
"No, they speak with Russian accents".
At this point you think this is not worth arguing about. ;-)
Incidentally, a lot of Russians believe that the Wizard of Oz was written by a Russian, Aleksandr Volkov, I think. Stalin was a big fan of the movie and commissioned (well, told) Volkov to write a Russian version. So Volkov, being a good communist and not particularly wanting "nine grams of lead" from the Committee for State Security, wrote about 7 extra novels in a similar vein. Incidentally, folks, do learn a little Russian. It's a fascinating language.
