Being a huge fan of the Soviet cartoons and some Soviet movies, I think it'd be interesting for some of the uninitiated visitors to watch them.
Here is, by the way, the very New Year's Soviet funny claymation extravaganza. You can turn the English subtitles below the video. Great music, too.

I can't say I'm familiar with any Soviet cartoons, but my favourite Russian thing ever has to be Captain Pronin.
Watch and be amazed...

Vinni Pukh is superior than the american version (Winnie the Pooh)!
One of my favourite short films is Butterfly:

This is how an unpolitical topic is being slowly degraded into... well...
They say, it is not illegal to make topics like this. So, why not? Prog stands for innovations, after all.

Actually I was also going to create topics Soviet Music and Soviet WWII Songs, but I have decided to wait a little... It'd be too much for one day.
However, here is the cult cartoon for all Soviet children. Bremen Musicians, not a spoken word, only songs and music. English or French subtitles can be turned on.

oh fun...
blame Trump... or blame those that voted for him ... not us... for the world and internet disruption. Most with functional brains still have yet to grasp how we've acutally elected a President who (among other things) scammed customers of their money through a fraudulent college..
so yeah... you have to forgive our continued shock to the system of the stupidity of 49% of America

We all know nobody here elected him President!!......Russia elected him, they pushed all the buttons and intercepted all the mailed in ballots, replaced them with new sealed ballots. Just like what happened to Steven Wright, when he came home someone stole all his furniture and replaced it with exact replicas....Sh*t happens man, seriously!

they're all crooked of course.. I just prefer mine to have experience... an experienced one is a GOOD one. One that is good enough to be crooked and yet still accomplish something. The Presidency is no place for learning on the job how to transform from being merely crooked, racist and sexist to being a crooked racist sexist politician

Well I have not a clue what an "experienced politician" is, also not sure ever seen the qualifications to be one, so its a moot point.
As long as you were born in the US, are 35yrs old and been here for 14 years as a resident you meet the qualifications to be President, so don't understand the beef?? Most of us meet the qualifications.....
Most people work for one company all their lives and never come close to becoming President/CEO of that company...not even close!
Presidents/CEOs are that because they have worked to that position in the business world, that's why companies hire away CEOs from other companies all the time.
You (will) never see any companies hiring a former US President to run their business(es), because they are not qualified to do that, other than being a professional politician, which I don't know what that is either.

Go for it, I'd really find that of interest. I've had a bit of a passion on the Great Patriotic War myself since I was old enough to push counters around old Avalon HIll bookcase games and read Ballentine novels, my family came to the states turn of last century from the Ukrainian-Polish border. Not to toot my own horn but am a in demand researcher on the subject. Spent the last two years making a detailed study of the Red Army in 1941 for a game company.
oh yeah... for not getting upset about yesterday. You would have been right to have been haha. I was the main culprit so an apology is in order for f**king with your thread and going all political on it.

These are the type of non-factoids we have become used to under the new era of Breitbartism. Most of what you are saying here has no basis on fact and require logical leaps.
1, A quick search will find plenty of data refuting the one employer statement. Maybe in 1955, but not for some time now has the single employer career been the norm. 2. Most people do not have a huge amount have daddy capital to start their own companies. Nor the confidence that daddy will bail them when they fail. To my knowledge, Tweety has only CEO'd his own companies, so the "hired away from other companies" upshot doesn't work. 3. Most ex-presidents don't apply for CEO jobs. As a matter of fact, tend to be retirement age or older, and sometimes even dead before leaving office. "Not qualified" is a baseless assertion.

Everybody is surely free to write here everything in every thread. But my point was that there could be visitors who would really want to discuss the topic without discussing the Trump's st(u/a)ff.
If you thought you had to write here about politics, welcome. Why should I judge you? Really.

The song is really one of the best sung by this Russian pop star. But I must add that this is the post-Soviet song, it is from 1998 if I'm right. Still, thank you, it is a great song indeed.

I haven't watched it before Magnum Vaeltaja's post. Really funny. Thank you.
There was, by the way, a 1987's Soviet parody cartoon about Kolobok brothers. Its distinctive feature was scary (as for kids) music.

Ah, you're so right. This song is 1998 but Alla Pugachova was the biggest pop star of the Soviet Union and was their equivalent to the Beatles. Most of her biggest hits came before the collapse. Silly me, i should've posted something that came before like this, her biggest 70s hit:

Alla was great. I would say she was Soviet singer Madonna, though.
I love these two of her songs especially:
When you're leaving, do leave!
This world is not invented by us [think of the Queen's song released later, if I'm right!]

^ I've heard the second one. I actually have a 15 CD boxed set of her stuff and i am simply amazed that i love almost everything on it. Yeah, a few duds but more gems than not. Yeah, maybe she was like Madonna in personna but her music was much more sophisticated pop than anything Madonna has put out and therefore i would gladly place her music more in comparison with The Beatles myself.
Sorry to distract from the theme of the thread. Perhaps another thread could be started simply about Soviet era music. I have a little bit of it including Vladimir Vysotsky, Nol, Zhanna Bichevskaya, Mashina Vremeni and Akvarium. Great stuff!

Speaking of humour, here is the splendid, outstanding version of Treasure Island, a mixture of animation and movie. You could watch it in the USA, but the American variant omitted all movie-parts songs and changed the music.
Watch the original, everything is translated in the subtitles, including the lyrics:

Thanks for the thread. ;-)
An ex of mine was Russian, from Volgograd. She had some strange ideas.
We were talking about the Teletubbies. "Yes, I know this, it's called "Telepuzeki" and it's a Russian programme", she said.
"It's made by the BBC", I said.
"No, they speak with Russian accents".
At this point you think this is not worth arguing about. ;-)
Incidentally, a lot of Russians believe that the Wizard of Oz was written by a Russian, Aleksandr Volkov, I think. Stalin was a big fan of the movie and commissioned (well, told) Volkov to write a Russian version. So Volkov, being a good communist and not particularly wanting "nine grams of lead" from the Committee for State Security, wrote about 7 extra novels in a similar vein. The Wizard of the Emerald City, I think - "Волшебник Изумрудного города"
Incidentally, folks, do learn a little Russian. It's a fascinating language.
