I heard the composition of this project as a soundtrack to avant-garde animation. https://soundcloud.com/user-69867999/sets/zakoulki-snov https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GVjNqIupA68 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cSS3W1DXqXQ

Incidentally, a lot of Russians believe that the Wizard of Oz was written by a Russian, Aleksandr Volkov, I think. Stalin was a big fan of the movie and commissioned (well, told) Volkov to write a Russian version. So Volkov, being a good communist and not particularly wanting "nine grams of lead" from the Committee for State Security, wrote about 7 extra novels in a similar vein. The Wizard of the Emerald City, I think - "Волшебник Изумрудного города"
So Gene Roddenberry's portrayal of Mr. Chekov is not far off.
Big fan of Russian culture, BTW .

^ I've heard the second one. I actually have a 15 CD boxed set of her stuff and i am simply amazed that i love almost everything on it. Yeah, a few duds but more gems than not. Yeah, maybe she was like Madonna in personna but her music was much more sophisticated pop than anything Madonna has put out and therefore i would gladly place her music more in comparison with The Beatles myself.
Sorry to distract from the theme of the thread. Perhaps another thread could be started simply about Soviet era music. I have a little bit of it including Vladimir Vysotsky, Nol, Zhanna Bichevskaya, Mashina Vremeni and Akvarium. Great stuff!
Listen to how the Russian Sretensky Male Monastery Choir sings that second one...
Etot mir priduman ne nami... - This world is not invented by us...
Released originally earlier than the Queen's analogue. Speaking of the aether.

Thanks for the thread. ;-)
An ex of mine was Russian, from Volgograd. She had some strange ideas.
We were talking about the Teletubbies. "Yes, I know this, it's called "Telepuzeki" and it's a Russian programme", she said.
"It's made by the BBC", I said.
"No, they speak with Russian accents".
At this point you think this is not worth arguing about. ;-)

Incidentally, folks, do learn a little Russian. It's a fascinating language.

Hmm, Soviet cartoons...I didn't know that Russians had a sense of humor.
Speaking of humour, here is the splendid, outstanding version of Treasure Island, a mixture of animation and movie. You could watch it in the USA, but the American variant omitted all movie-parts songs and changed the music.
Watch the original, everything is translated in the subtitles, including the lyrics:
