^ Indeed! Approve I was very impressed with "Avenoth", I'll have to edit my list Wink
It was also good to listen to other songs from FEM. They really need to put out a new album... well, I really need it Embarrassed
Thanks for recommending Three Monks, it's a bit much at first listen, but I hope it will become better with more spins.
That Syndone album was amazing as always Approve I decided to give it a listen because I found out the Prog festival where I saw them closed their website and FB page. It's really goodbye Disapprove

Yesterday:
Ghost - Meliora (Looking at their stage presentation, I thought they were much heavier. It's actually quite keyboard-heavy, I like it.)
La Fabbrica dell'Assoluto - 1984: L'Ultimo Uomo d'Europa (But not as keyboard-heavy as this LOL)
IQ - Tales From the Lush Attic (Does this get better if I consider it a Gabriel-era Genesis album? Ermm)
JáfuMega - s/t
Ornatos Violeta - Cão
Bob James - One
RasaSound - Beginnings (An Ozrics related album released two months ago)

Home for the weekend.

Gazpacho-- Demon

IQ-- The Road Of Bones (both discs) [ hey Sam. It gets 'better' if you mean you'd prefer IQ sounding more like a unique band. I'd check out Dark Matter and The Wake to give you an honest idea of how IQ, really do have their own brand of Neo prog however they've always rested pretty heavily on their contemporary influences. They are just one if those bands, but extremely great sounding. Not much better in the entire genre.

Threshold-- The Ravages of time (disc 2. Damian era)
Duran Duran-- Rio (2009 remaster special edition.)
Dream Theater-- Chaos In Motion (disc 1 only)
Enigma-- Enigma 2: The Cross of Changes
Judas Priest-- Painkiller
Trivium-- Silence In The Snow. ( very addictive straight forward thrash album.)
Metallica-- Black album ( haven't spun this in a few years. Very satisfying. )
IQ-- Forever Live (1993)
Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

Really enjoying what I hear, thanks again buddy.

Sorry mate I had some buns in the oven. They're now officially black
With the amount of material one gets for those 11 bucks it really is quite the bargain. Hope you continue to dig this one - it has helped this dane overcome the most excrutiating hangover ever. New Years eh? I hope you entered 2017 in a similar if not slightly less delirious manner

Today:
Gadi Caplan - Morning Sun (Guys!!! You need to check out this guy! Totally blown away here. Sounds like a better version of Dave Gilmour anno 1972 on vocals doing this beautifully melodic psych rock fusion thing. Love the production, the drums, the choice of organs and piano - yum! A taste perchance? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dQBuBR7ato8
La Bocca della Veritá - Avenoth (great music with perhaps a tad too sterile of a production job for my tastes)
Can - Ege Bamyasi
Floating Points - Kuiper
Dr Dre - The Chronic
Weather Report - I Sing The Body Electric
Pescado Rabioso - Artaud

Xhol Caravan - Motherf**kers GmbH & Co. KG  Wow, this is splendid! I had not investigated much of Xhol's catalog other than just hearing a few pieces on the internet. I love how the music employs funk and blues-rock influences on song-like parts, jazz influences on improvisation, and has it's own flavor when experimenting with form, timbre, and harmony. Everything is amazingly balanced and "on point." Definitely a gem!

Mulatu Astatke - Mulatu of Africa This is the music I've been hearing in my mother's womb, for real. My mom recently dug out he old Mulatu Astatke discs and it didn't take long for me to realize that this is totally my thing. I really like this music, it combines the proto-fusion elements I really love with African music influences for fascinating results.

Bruce Haack - Electric Lucifer This is Bruce Haack's first psychedelic album and his electronic children's music background combined with experimental rock trends of the period fructifies in this oddity. All with a weird preacher-esque atmosphere to it. Electric Lucifer is a fascinating work, highly recommended to anyone interested in both - psychedelic rock and early electronic experimentation.

Sun Ra - The Night of the Purple Moon Actually, this may rival Lanquidity and Space is the Place as my favorite Sun Ra album. At first hearing, it's quirky post-bop with considerable amount of experimentation, but it hides so much underneath. The acoustic piano is replaced with a bright percussive pianet and, actually, musically, it's quite indescribable and incomparable. Furthermore, the short piece format enhances the "odd" reverberation of the music. Phenomenal!

Pink Floyd - Ummagumma This is my favorite Pink Floyd album for sure and today's listen only confirmed it. The live disc is really breathtaking. The version of "Astronomy Domine" grows up to the excellence of the original, "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" gives me goosebumps everytime, while "The Saucerful of Secrets" is almost as good as the ultimate Pompeii version. Disc two, however, is even more addictive, portraying Pink Floyd at the hight of their creative period. I read a bit about The Man and The Journey suites that they performed at that time and will make sure to investigate that soon!

Eliane Radigue - L'Île Re-Sonante To be frank, this album sounds like a chunk of infinity. There is one part of this extremely slowly evolving hour-long drone, which, in my opinion, genuinely sounds like road to heaven. I've found my reception of this piece is different to most of the things I listen to, it's . . . meta-musical.

Soft Machine - Spaced (1969) How cool is it to hear one of your all-time favorite bands do something you love, but would not have associated with them? That's right, Soft Machine is at their most experimental here. Somewhat similar to Faust, they experiment with drones, tapes, time, effects, timbres, everything is very dark. And they really succeed. Highly recommended!

^Nice list there buddy.
Oh and Tymon I saw you span that Dälek Faust collab here the other day Been on a bit of a Faust trip lately but the earlier ones So Far, IV and 71 Minutes.
Have you by any chance heard the Finnish band Utopianisti? They made an album last year called The Third Frontier. Very much in the Canterbury tangy fusion style you dig. Think Soft Machine with more horns.

It's a bit immature and `hero-worship' in parts that debut (although there was an earlier cassette release too). Some cool moments, but I think `The Wake' is much better, even if if has more `new-wave' elements to the sound. It's definitely more original than the first disc at least, and Nicholls doesn't try to sound as much like Gabriel either. I've sadly got a VERY scratchy LP of that one, a shame because the cover is in pristine condition!

The three Faust albums you named are my favorites. I also really love The Faust Tapes, very much in the vein of those three.
To be honest, I have never even heard of Utopianisti. I'll have to check them out, from your description and two 5-star reviews that The Third Frontier has, it sounds very tasty. Thanks a ton for that recommendation.

Utopianisti - The Third Frontier Thank you for the recommendation, David! This is a very interesting band. Their music is very well composed and arranged, as you said, very much in the vein of Canterbury bands and also Frank Zappa. I really like the guitar work as well as balanced keyboards. However, one thing that really disturbs me is that the music is pointlessly heavy at too many points, the drumming and the drum sound being very exhausting for my sensitive teenage ears. LOL Overall, they are a really good band, though, I'll make sure to check out the previous releases.

Art Ensemble of Chicago - Phase One Most Art Ensemble of Chicago albums sound really similar, but that's not a problem with me, the formula is tried and tested, I love this stuff.

Cressida – s/t – What a skilled band...ravishing instrumentation, tight compositions, great singing...

Atomic Rooster – s/t - Did anybody else know that (ahem) "Atomic Rooster" is active again, playing some dates in the UK in late January?

Beggars Opera – Waters of Change
Bram Stoker – Heavy Rock Spectacular
I.Q – Tales from the Lush Attic
Ange – Au-Dela du Delire
Amon Duul 2 – Wolf City
Amon Duul 2 – Yeti
If – Live in Europe ‘72

Morgan - Nova Solis - A cool album, but much better when the singing stops.

Hawkwind - Live Seventy Nine - Very good live album. The first side is decent, but the second kick ass...There's a cool reinterpretation of Tim Blake's `Lighthouse', and the version of `Master of the Universe' here sounds like it could have easily appeared on the first two Iron Maiden albums!
