Today I will attempt to listen to Yessongs from beginning to end. I just never had the time to do so.

Good luck Paul. I do all the early Yes titles once per year, in the coldest winter months, as they feel like a "winter band" to me. Always have. They go well on moonlit snowy nights. Why only once per year? Just to keep it special. I heard them all so damn many times growing up that I can play them in my head, at will. So I restrict actually playing them to once, sometimes twice, per year. Keeps it fresh. I actually get really super excited when it comes time for my Topographic spin, my favorite of the bunch. Always a winter night "driving" album for me. |

Interesting. I've always found Yes to be more like summer music as far as prog goes, especially The Yes Album. But I definitely feel some winter-y vibes with numbers like South Side of the Sky, Heart of the Sunrise (there's a very "city at night" ambience to this one), Siberian Khatru and quite a bit of Relayer.

Gary, I picked up this one from the Kozmik Artifactz sale, it arrived today. Female fronted psych/stoner/doom, hardly original, but quite good! Couple of longer pieces too.

^^^ Hi Michael. I got that one from KA as well. I agree that it's nothing new but it is very good.
Hopefully they'll put out a second album early next year. Blood Ceremony is another FFOBR band that is pretty good. The female vocalist also adds flute and organ to the mix.

I've got to evaluate Promenade for the RPI team, Sam, you think they're a sure thing for us? That sure is some lovely cover art.
I'm actually glad you dug that Coldplay album, mate! It really is a perfectly lovely album, quite intimate and low-key compared to the very next album onwards! I still think quite a lot of passages on it are quite similar to that `Stupid Dream/Lightbulb Sun' period of Porcupine Tree. Although there's occasional good tracks on their next few albums, it's all become so overly polished and stale. Pretty sure that album is dirt cheap and easy to pick up on vinyl as well. |

Kevin, yep, I've had many over the years tell me Yes has a "summer" vibe to their ear. Not sure why I have that winter association other than perhaps it was winter when I first discovered their magic? Or maybe the Yesshows poster I once had on my wall? Not sure. |

Yeah, sometimes a little piece of paper with a big value written on it is enough to change a band

Nice one James! I'm afraid I'd have to amend a little bit. Autumn: Close to the Edge Winter: Tales From Topographic Oceans Spring: Fragile or Going for the One Summer: The Yes Album (or Drama) |

I'd put them this way, a bit related to the time I got them.
Autumn: Tales From Topographic Oceans Winter: Fragile Spring: Close to the Edge Summer: The Yes Album Do they have "An Album For All Seasons"?

Yeah, that sounds about right. Only thing is I'd probably move a few certain songs around to different seasons. Spring: And You And I Summer: The Remembering Autumn: The Ancient Winter: Siberian Khatru
