So yeah, I got to London last night.
![]() Yesterday: A.R. & Machines - Echo I always felt this is a criminally underrated/overlooked krautrock band. In my opinion, not only is Achim Riedel an innovative musician, but also he highlights all the great elements of krautrock. This two-disc album is a monster from outer space. Love it! Banco Del Mutuo Soccorso - s/t As I mentioned, I am wanting to explore RPI. I picked this as my first album (of course, I have previously listened to some PFM, Le Orme, Museo Rosenbach or Quella Vecchia Locanda). Love this work! Perfect interplay between some tasteful hard rock parts and beautiful classical-influenced passages. Those keyboards are something to die for. Amazing compositions and musicianship! Last Exit - Casette Recordings Free jazz is another new passion of mine. I started appreciating the genre immensly. It demands different approach, sure, but once you learn to listen to it, you will never stop loving it. This album is especially great. Not only do we get typical Peter Brotzmannisms, but we also get the fantastic Sonny Sharrock shredding those strings. Area - Arbeit Macht Frei WOAAAAH!!!! What a blast!!!I listened to this one on the plane, so perhaps I didn't devote 100% of my attention to it (I did about 95%) ![]() Edited by ALotOfBottle - August 09 2016 at 02:20 |

![]() ![]() I heard "Interstellar Space" once and I didn't like it at all. I'll have to see what I think of that one.
![]() ![]() Last night: Peter Gabriel - PG 1 (Thanks for reminding me of him, Nick. I bought his first two last year and I forgot about them ![]() Kraftwerk - Radioactivity (After using an analogue synth for a few months I get the problem with their simplicity. They used very basic sounds even I could already mimic, although they certainly deserve credit for what they created and everyone they influenced.)

Hah, actually, probably not, but I was thinking about it. Maybe if I find a little time. It's sure a beautiful place to visit (even if you don't like erhmmm...) Thanks, Sam! ![]() Also, what synth do you use? Edited by ALotOfBottle - August 09 2016 at 04:05 |

Yeah, it seems like a really nice place. I'd love to visit England someday but I have no rush since I still barely know my little country
![]() I have a Korg MS20 Mini, it's not expensive, intuitive and easy to learn but you can do some complex stuff as well. I'm still having fun with it and learning new tricks. The only problem I have with it is the background noise when I use less lowpass filter or the triangle wave form.

I am currently looking into an Arturia Microbrute. I was also considering this MS-20 Mini, but what really wins me over with MB is that it has that great sequencer (a feature that I would use night and day). That little pin matrix is also a cool feature. From what I've seen and heard, its triangle wave (which is something I love the most) has this very nice smooth warmth, if you will. Anyway, sorry for getting off-topic. |

^ I considered that one as well but it seemed too simple, I think I would get bored with it really fast. I chose the MS20 also because I prefer the old school interface. I'm currently waiting for a Korg SQ1 sequencer, I've been using a digital metronome as a kind of sequencer. The triangle wave is used for the flute sound for example, but the noise is higher than the oscillator's volume

I've just p[icked up a few Heldon albums for the first time, Sagi, slowly making my way through them. I'm currently sticking with the debut `Electronique Guerilla' for now, don't mind that one at all!
My choices today/tonight: Ash Ra Tempel – Le Berceau de Cristal Leap Day – From the Days of Deucalion: chapter 2 Unreal City – Il Paese del Tramonto Can – Monster Movie Amon Duul 2 - Yeti Fuchsia – s/t |

I'm slowly coming around to this one, Dave! I was quite disappointed when I first got it....for years I'd seen the cover and thought it was going to be this hazy, laid-back, meditative kind of album, and it turns out it's quite wild, noisy and strangled (well, some of the singing is!). But it's starting to grow on me more and more, I just wish the long piece on the second side got moving a bit quicker. I've been playing the album in the car quite a lot lately, and that track is almost impossible to hear anything on it without turning the volume up mega loud for almost the first five minutes! ![]() I absolutely adore `Starring Rosi' though. |

Michael, the debut is the only album I still don't have. As I'm not a fan of the electronic genre, Heldon is one of the only bands I can digest. I'm sure you'll find a lot to enjoy. Speaking of which do you by any chance familiar with Pinhas other little project called Ose? Only one album from the 70's, check it out yo... |

Thanks, mate, I'll look into that one!
I can see why Heldon might be your electronic band of choice, they have a lot of crossover with a kind of almost Krautrock sound, lots of experimental stuff going on that stretches them way past being a typical `electronic' group ![]() |

I had the same problems coming into this album. Felt a little too jagged and tumultuous...even for me - and those mad LSD drenched vocals seemed like a one trip ticket to the sanitarium. But then something happened, not sure exactly what, yet the music took the front seat and those bobbing electronics of the long piece somehow dug their way into my brain. Pretty soon the rest of the album followed suit and now it is a fave of mine. I am however pretty sure that a car ride experience isn't the best way of approaching it, when one is new to the album, but maybe that's just me (and you ![]() I rather dig the laidback groove of Starring Rosi as well - come to think of it, it's been ages since I last span that. A revisit is in order methinks. |

Just one today. Jukka Tolonen - Tolonen! If you are unfamiliar with Jukka Tolonen, he is probably the best known Finnish prog guitarist, performing with acts such as Tasavallan Presidenti and Wigwam. This is his first solo effort (which he recorded when he was just 19 years old) and it's such an incredibly mature effort. It's very jazzy, with some great flute and saxophone parts, but of course, the main attraction is Jukka's phenomenal guitar playing.
Also parts of Magma's K.A. and Area's outstanding Arbeit Macht Frei. I visited some record stores on Soho (Reckless Records and Sister Ray). Sadly, many prices are very high, but I found a few nice deals, which I will hopefully come back for. I saw original Phaedra for 6 pounds in VG+ condition and also Ricochet on CD for 3 pounds. There were many prog records, but most of them were overpriced, which is kind of a shame. |
