When I saw this thread I instantly thought of "Thong Song" by Sisqó. Such a ubiquitous summer song back in 2000, not sure what Sisqó is up to now, perhaps wandering the streets of Minneapolis in a thong...
Some really painful stuff came out around the Millennium, aka the height of "boybands" and nu-metal among other dreck.
"Summer Girls" by LFO may even be a worse summer song...some of the most terrible lyrics ever written by any man or creature throughout history.

Black-Eyed Peas - that dumbass Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night song...
I couldn't really think of anything until I saw this. Gotta agree that thing has no redeeming value whatsoever.

ABBA - pick a song, any really
What?!!? No love for "Fernando" or "Does Your Mother Know" or "S.O.S." or even "Dancing Queen"?
Are you dead inside? Do you need a Stuart Smalley affirmation?
How 'bout a hug?
How can anyone not like ABBA?!!! They are the cheesiest of all but that's what's so appealing! Brilliant musical pop compositions with the absolute worst lyrics and wardrobe EVER!!! Maybe you just need to hear the "good" Abba
and do you take Abba to be your preferred cheezefest of all time?

BTW, a buddy of mine and i have a project going of coming up with the absolute worst pop songs of all time. Rules are simple, they have to have been pop hits and we have to agree on them as being the most cringeworthy. I have a huge tolerance for cheese and actually like a lot of the crap that makes others bark at the moon but even i have my limits. I'm putting together a list on RYM so i'll share here once i'm done :0

Wham - Careless Whisper Scorpions - Still Loving You Gerry Rafferty - Baker Street
I hate, I HATE, I DO HATE these songs since my youngest age: it's like having your dentist telling you have beautiful eyes, nice hair and a fresh breath while piercing your teeth's roots, messing with your gums and sitting on your lap no matter what you say on such a rather unconventional behaving from a medic. Gosh.

I hate Careless Whisper too. Vile, skin crawling bullsh*t.
Like Baker Street though.
Indifferent to most things the Scorpions did, although I did quite like the 'Love at first sting' album overall.
Uuhh yeah that Cher tune is ridiculously bad. Interrogation material. By the 5th repeat you're bound to squeal. Say something...ANYthing to be free of the horror. I also blame this "song" for today's use of the autotune - it is especially bad in modern hip hop. Yikes!

Bonnie Tyler - Total eclipse of the heart . Bon Jovi - Living on a prayer
There's of course a bunch of others, but one song I come to think of is a song that's probably called "I won't back down" because that phrase is repeated. It might be Gary Moore. It just goes round and round, has no dynamics and is extremely boring. I haven't heard it for a long time thankfully, buit that's just an example of a type of rock/pop song which is very simplistic and gives a bad and depressing feeling.
Sting - Every breath you take. This song has emerged as a hate-song, because it constantly shows up, it seems like a hear it every other month. And like the previous song I mentioned it is very simplistic in a way that causes a very bad feeling. That middle section is also meaningless, just too dramatic, contrived and meaningless.
Celine Dion - My heart will go on This was the number one hated song for me, but I haven't heard it for like 10 years which is a relief.
There's thousands more, but I have a problem with different "classics" as they may be called. My nearest grocery store plays a radio on with a lot of "classic" crap, so I try to avoid that store.

Totally agree with these! Depressing songs. There is also another Cetera hit song I think, can't remember it now. I think the problem is songs that want to express something in a dramatic way and yet it's just incredibly mediocre.

Pete C was great in Chicago. I don't think much of his solo career, bar his 1981 debut. Great bassist.
