This topic is a little provocative...

There are songs you don't like but that you can bear hearing.
But which are the songs you cannot stand listening to? These songs that were broadcasted too many times or immediately gives you the urge to push the "next" button / change the radio station?

Please cite precise songs names and not just a band or a genre.
The idea of this thread is songs that you can't stand, not the "I don't like disco or hip-hop" or "I don't like David Guetta" sort of things.

For me:
The Fugees (or whoever sings this... thing Big smile)  - Killing Me Softly with His Song
The Verve - Bitter Sweet Symphony
Rush - Closer to the Heart
Mike Oldfield - Moonlight Shadow
Genesis - I Know What I Like

This thread could run and run.
Is the idea to keep it to prog and prog tinged music?

if not I'll nominate just about everything to do with Garage or Hip Hop or Rap or whatever that childish non music is called

Oh and anything by Oasis and Coldplay

This topic is in "General music", so it can be any genre.

During my teenage years, I remember "Killing Me Softly" and "Bitter Sweet Symphony" being over-broadcasted by TV and radios.

Well the op was posted in general music discussions, so feel free to bring the vile - prog or not
Btw agree on Oasis and Coldplay, but there is a lot of interesting hip hop out there for my tastes (not the kind you'll hear on the radio though).

Oh, I almost forgot Nada Surf - Popular, which has also been too broadcasted at the time.

Concerning Oasis, Coldplay, or other bands and genres, please cite precise songs names.
The Coldplay I discovered at the end of the 90's is not the same as the actual Coldplay.

I used to date this girl who was absolutely smitten by them. She loved all and everything from the band, and I of course had no other choice than to bear with her, admittedly, psychopathic ways. I really tried liking them - most of all because it would improve the time I spent with her tenfolds, yet no dice. The more I listened the more apparent it became that Nickelback were making the same song over and over again. I have yet to hear a song from them that sounds different from ANY of their other tunes. Maybe it's the singers voice that does it? Every time I hear it my brain instantly tries fleeing out of my ear.

Probably easier just to mention songs I actually like from both
Coldplay - Talk
Oasis - Champagne Supernova

I can happilly live without the rest tbh.

There are many, many songs I dislike but my husband and I once spent a long car journey whittling the "worst songs in the universe" list down to the Eagle's Life in the Fast Lane and Steve Miller's The Joker. Both of which made us want to rip our ears off rather than ever hear them again.

I could also make a good argument for When I'm 64. What a waste of time and talent.

KRDL, Kurdle 109. We spoil music for everyone Tongue The less I hear radio (or watch TV) the more sane I am, although sometimes, even without that, it's impossible not to get sick of whatever Pop hit is currently trendy Dead It's more positive to make lists of music I love, so I won't even start this one. I can't believe Tom forgot Kings of Leon though LOL

I'm sure you haven't listened to some Coldplay you like, if you like Radiohead, you'll appreciate some Coldplay - if you're able to give them a chance:

The first and last song of The Blue Room EP (Bigger Stronger and Such A Rush (from 14:32)) have a very deep mood which runs through the whole album.

42, this one is arguably their best alternative rock song with a very interesting bridge between two contrasting parts.

Handshake   Big smile   Love your James Blunt comment.
If I never hear Justin Bieber again anywhere I will be very happy. Miley Cyrus curls my teeth the wrong way. Europe's The Final Countdown puts the finger firmly at the back of my throat.

According to wiki there are 309 songs recorded, 72 are covers which leaves 237 original compositions...For fear of listing 2-3 pages on this thread, I will not list them.

The Beatles.
