Misplaced is where I started to like them, but getting Six Of One, Half Dozen Of The Other and hearing "Easter" made me a full blown fan.

For my ears, Fish's lyrics tend to be more oblique and hard for me to identify with; whereas, Hogarth's lyrics tend to be less ambiguous and symbolic and easier for me to connect with.

A while ago I bought a box set of 4 Marillion albums and forgot about it - because at the same time I got Misplaced Childhood, Fugazi, and Jester and played the hell out of those.

You know I'll be there if I can, Steve. Some things just need to level off (as you well know). At this point, I'm not even sure I'd enjoy myself knowing there's some stuff that need to really change.

I'm off to see Marillion again tomorrow for the third time in three years .  That after not seeing them live for over fiteen years!!  They are playing at The Ritz in Manchester, a strange venue it has to be said.  It has an infamous sticky floor which is considerably bouncy - it is also a nightclub that has a reputation of considerable (dis)repute in these parts over the years .

I couldn't resist taking a peek at their recent setlists , different to say the least with Clutching At Straws featuring prominently.  Not the best news for a confirmed h-era guy like me.  Anyway I'm expecting some gems no matter what, I'll pop back on thursday to report.......

Not my best Marillion experience if I'm being honest.

We had a pretty bloody awful view, why are prog fans all the same height as NBA superstars?  And I'm over 6 feet tall.  It was a far from ideal setlist, Clutching at Straws and Seasons End featuring heavily (the version of Seasons End the track was however sublime).  Generally the tracks they played tended to be those I least prefer from those albums, with a few exceptions.  Nothing at all was played from several favourite albums of mine though I do appreciate Marbles will be getting the treatment at the Marillion Weekends next year.
 
There were however some plusses:-

1.  Fantastic sound, you could hear each instrument perfectly, hats off to the sound guys
2.  Hogarth was in fantastic form, both vocally and on the humour front.  My favourite comment from him "Manchester, it's like coming home - you are always the best crowd of the tour.  Mind you, I say that every f***ing night!!!"
3.  A brilliant version of Woke Up from one of my favourite albums.
4.  They played Easter - the missus favourite
5.  An absolutely staggering rendition of King (I was lost for words)

Now if only I could make that bloody UK Weekend.........

Well I had a pizza beforehand and didn't hear (or smell) anything!

This might be an idea, a clever ruse to create a little more space for oneself

I'll join you guys on this one. While I appreciate Tull they don't have a special place in my heart like Marillion. Even though I'm not a Hogarth fan the Fish albums still overtake Tull.

Anybody got any of those? I'm in the middle of the "Brave" 1994 tour right now, vol.I, and it's lovely <3
