I wonder where smartpatrol went. He was probably the best thing to happen to PA in it's entire history.

Oh hey guys. Smile I never really went away, but I don't see as much that I feel like commenting on these days. It's kind of embarrassing to think I got out a lot of my boredom and angst online so it's visible to go back and look at. But I did make friends here and this is a really great community. You are all awesome and I hope you know it. Handshake

I remember a guy, and his username was Mandrakeroot, if i remember correctly. With his wild English, and amusing threads; he may be among the ones that is missing and is missed. Party

I miss jean-marie who used Aphrodite's Child '666' as his avatar. Wonderful French man that I shared a lot of warm and heartfelt conversations with. He loved floyd's 'More' just as much as I do, which is rare.

2Dogs is another one I met in The Krautrock Space. Really nice chap whom I shared a lot of musical tastes with. Same goes for the OP of said thread The Wrinkler who sadly doesn't frequent the forum either.

I miss Alex too. He was a good friend of mine. Same goes for Chris (seventhsojourn), who's reviews are among the finest in the PA database.

Tons of others but my brain isn't working properly at the moment. Too much juice.

We met Mandrakeroot in real life, and from that one meeting it was obvious he had some issues music helped him cope with. Anyway, his account seems to have been deleted, as a search turned up nothing at all.

I discovered a few days ago that suspended accounts can no longer be found in the memberlist, so one has to take a detour. But his profile is still here.

indeed.  There have been legends in PA's past.  However I'd be hard pressed to name one more than him. He is  the PA's legend that all others are judged against LOL

As Raff alluded to,  an absolute sweetheart who knew his music as well as anyone on this site. However as those who really remember do remember, he had notions of the site which were incompatible with the established norms here and why he and his account are no longer around.  Let's say he had a strong conflict of direction with a certain strong willed genre team leader. I really miss him though he was ..unique. Never duplicated for he was impossible to even attempt to try to imitate LOL

Yeah, nice young chap, indeed every pic he posted was in his room, if his current absence is because he is having a bit more of a real life outside of the net, be it welcome, but I hope he will drop by again some day. Maybe he got a Progger girlfriend? I would be happy for him Tongue

He returned as 1968/ 1976 and requested his old account suspended so he could write new reviews. It's not something we'd normally encourage but as it was Andrea we made allowances, he even continued to add dubious greatest hits and tribute albums for a while.

Alas he hasn't been here in that guise for almost 12 months now but I have a feeling he returned earlier in the year with yet another account.
What?

I believe the 'thanks' button does the same, no? Am I wrong?

He was a classic!

I recall The Lost Chord, who had an unfortunate habit of getting very drunk and posting...questionable things here, often of a racial natureCry Shame is he was a fun guy and often started the drug threads, which were fascinating talks and though it pushed the rules, often higher ups and even admins would contribute to the discussion and it was good times. Not sure if he got suspended ever but he did fade away to deal with "real life" and on rare occasion he's on FB.

Seems like that was the case with most older members honestly, nearly all (if not suspendedLOL) just get bored, burn out, or pre occupied with real life.
Shame because like Stonebeard, this was a place I vented a lot on and looked like a fool BUT it was amongst friends and many others did the same. I got so much awesome music from here, as well as friends, some of which I've since met in real life, and just spent hours of good times.

I regret HOW much time I've spent here, but hey...it was what I needed at the time. When I was friendless and depressed in my early college years, or just looking for people to share my whack world views with and be sad together, this was the place Smile

good call on the Lost Chord. Another classic from the classic era.

He was a hoot, but definitely had some issues going on. It sure did seem him and Tony R had a thing going on for a time didn't it. LOL

Yeah I saw that but it has two problems..

the thanks is not displayed prominently enough and the most important fault and the same one FB shares..

you really can't have a 'thanks' button without a 'f**k off' button!!! LOL
