My parents gave me this nickname when I was born. And there's something special about it: it is also my real name. Actually, my full name is Joren Willem van Ree. I've had a few other nicknames in real life (my best friend likes to call me Jørginx), but none of them seems to really fit.
My avatar at the moment is Da Vinci's famous Mona Zappa, a true piece of art.

I used to use my initials in the beginning in cyberspace but it turned out that those particular initials were far more common than I thought so I had to choose a cybername for myself and then, being terminally devoid of imagination,I looked to my favourite band,Tangerine Dream, for inspiration. One of my favourite TD albums is "Time Square" where there's a track called "Pixel Pirates". I thought that sounded snappy and distinctive, but being only one person I changed it from plural to singular.
As for the avatar I chose it from the ones available when I registered. There's a TD connection once again,of course,in that that particular avatar is called "Wavelength" and there's a TD album by the same name. I thought it appropriate for that reason alone but I also thought that it looks quite a lot like a spectrum analyzer you often find on recording studio equalizers (I actually had one in my hifi at one point. Totally pointless in a home stereo system but it looked tremendously stylish and hypercool.I was still young enough to care about things like that then ) and since TD rely on advanced studioequipment slightly more than, say Bruce Springsteen,I thought that was an additional reason to use it.
Ok,you can wake up now.

Yeah I've been told that Mr Lakes Office is a normal Office, except for a couple of worn parts of the carpet, a couple of feet in front of his desk, it's a mystery I tell you a mystery......

I'm Zappa123 on different forums.Zappa123 simply because there is always at least one Zappa on the forum.Even Zappa1 and Zappa2....Hell,Zappa is everywhere. But that's normal.....I realize now-I think here I could be just Zappa.
The picture goes with Zappamaniacs.By the way,my real name is Robert.

My Handle is from David Edding's THe Belgariad. I started using it 10 years ago or so when I first logged on to a BBS and Aragorn was taken. Been using it in different forms ever since. My avitar is something from the stock list.
