This is like trying to pick an avocado over a can of roasted & salted almonds. I like both too much to pick one over the other.

Not comparable and thus I could not choose one of them. Sorry, no vote.

In terms of the quality of their guitar playing, they are equal yet very distinct from one another. My preference, still, is Hackett.

Fripp. Hackett is pleasant, but I do not find him very stimulating.

Fripp
Hackett is a really lovely player, and sometimes great composer, but does not challenge and redefine music and the craft of playing
Now, most folks don't want the sometimes ugly challenge, but I do

They are both fun. But the guitar's Fripp gets more ecstasy.

Most definitely Fripp, I never thought of Hackett as a guitar god, just a good one.
Fripp's inventive leads, solos and ideas are uncomparable to the stuff I heard from Hackett.

Well, that's just plain wrong. He was known for incorporating interesting arpeggios, slew picking, extensive use of sustain, innovative use of the volume pedal in phrasing, two handed tapping - not a complete list, but I'm going to bed. ...Oh yeah, I voted for Hackett, but Fripp is toward the top of my very discriminating list.
