Frankly, as I often tell me children, "Do not worry, the human race does not yet deserve extinction! ". I also worry about the "buttons". My greatest fear is that a large city, maybe in Europe, maybe elsewhere, will be atomized by a dirty bomb, with millions of casualties.

I cannot worry about natural phenomena beyond my control. My greatest fear is having my music collection stolen. I had all my worldly possessions in a storage unit once and it was broken into. Many items were taken but the LPs and CDs hurt the most. I still have bad doggie dreams of this occuring again.

Melting foods and magazines called digest. Windmill operators who fabricate distractions overseas. People who eat tomatoes with hands over ears. Ointment advertisers and of course bouffants. Losing bookmarks and politicians with no hobbies.

Lately I have been frightened by the silly threads like MaryAnne vs Ginger on Gilligan's Island.

I live in western Washington so the volcano risk, and earthquake risk is quite scary to think about, however, the puget sound, and how far we are inland, would protect us from any tidal waves hitting the coast.

St. Helens and Hood are both coming alive, aren't you excited? And we're due for an earthquake a bit off the coast around Oregon/Washington area. These are exciting times, my friend. Of course, they could happen any time in the next 50-100 years from what I've heard. |

You're right, I wouldn't be nearly as scared if this country were overrun by people without upper appendages. |

Let's see... terrorists, killer bees, tornado outbreaks, feminists, MRAs, bird flu, those really big jawbreakers I'm afraid to eat because I might accidentally swallow it, choke and die...
Yes, I'm a big wuss.

Yippee! I didn't know St Helens or Hood was acting up, of course, being so close to Rainier, that's the one that truly freaks me out! Auburn is on a lahar zone, but it'd have to be one big lahar to reach this far out... and the off shore earthquake is quite illusive, they say the juan de fuca fault has slipped sometimes in 250 year intervals, and sometimes in 800 year intervals, but I believe the average is every 350 years. So we're getting there... but ya know what, whatever, this is a beautiful place to live, and almost everywhere has its fair share of hazards, when it comes down to it, good place to live!!

Agreed it's a worthy trade-off. And with technology these days, I imagine we'll get a decent warning if anything were to happen. I live down in Eugene, and the city's already working on infrastructure in some areas to better stand the earthquake. |
