Hi Doug, what is 3 B's of music by the way?
It has been known by being Bach, Beethoven, and Brahms to many for years, kind of a classical music slogan,  the most important composers whose names start with B-I love Brahms, but Bruckner is more groundbreaking as a symphonist, imo. How's it going with your Bruckner listening, Ric?

Thanks for reminding me Doug, just looking forward to listen to another symphony of him, which one would you suggest me ?
The 3rd, conducted by Hans Knappertsbusch.(or maybe Carl Schuricht) Bruckner is firing on all six cylinders with that symphony, one of his most dramatic and exciting, but also with a moving adagio.

the phrase was originally coined by Peter Cornelius and referred to Bach,  Beethoven and Berlioz. later the conductor Hans von Bülow (father-in-law to Richard Wagner) wrote in a letter:
"Mein musikalisches Glaubensbekenntniss steht in Es dur, mit drei B-en in der Vorzeichnung: Bach, Beethoven, und Brahms,  which I would translate as "my musical creed is written in Es major, with three B's in the key signature: Bach, Beethoven and Brahms". "B" refers to the musucal notation for the key Es major.

Hans von Bülow is also known for the statement "I believe in Bach, the Father, Beethoven, the Son, and Brahms, the Holy Ghost of music"
That is really interesting, Hans von Bulow was such an important conductor, a "father figure" to other emergent conductors, like Bruno Walter, for example.

Music is not music, but simply an illusion of pattern created by our brains out of a cacophony of sounds, with a prediction and pleasure reflex attached to it as well.

Also, real music is Ambiance; the music of nature, because nature, is all knowing.

I'd like to point out that drummer Mani Neumeier of Guru Guru stated on the back cover of "Mani und seine Freunde": "dedicated to my little friends the birds whom I consider to be the real professional musicians" (translated by me from the original German)

Ian Anderson is at best, a busker in tights that got lucky
If Jon Anderson had ever been a busker, he'd be the only one with a roadie

I actually tend to subscribe to that point of view, with some reservations. replace "only good" with "best" and you certainly get my vote

_ ...and your bird can sing, Beatles said that in their famous song, and the plant's favourite piece of music is Classical...
I'm still waiting for someone who once upon a time was a plant to tell me the truth...
But... perhaps not necessarily, that has been actually a matter of investigation by specialists in the field.
