Simple really. There's an album made specifically for you it would seem. Morte Macabre's Symphonic Holocaust should do the trick. Heavy, symphonic and absolutely drenched in mellotron. |

Might not be the right discussion to ask but I've been trying to find a song a friend once played me... Only lyrics I can remember is "Let's take a walk in the park" Definitely prog or prog-related,late 60's early 70's...Female singer with a distinct voice! If anyone has even the slightest idea please let me know!

You could be thinking of "Now and Forever" by Sam Brown from her sophomore album April Moon - it's not Heavy, it's not Prog but she is related to prog related in that she has sung with David Gilmore, Pink Floyd, Jon Lord and Deep Purple, Gilmore has also sang & played on a couple of her albums, and Gavin Harrison has drummed.

You could be referring to Emtidi's Saat album though it's psychedelic folk more than anything.

Two (songs) from JT (Martin Barre guitar!): "Minstrel in the Gallery" (title-cut); and, the beginning and ending of "Pibroch: Cap in Hand" (from 'Songs from the Wood')...

just in case someone does not know "Mozambique": great song! and the last 5 minutes are really heavy; you can almost see "the white beast " in the villages, "dealing only in death" Edited by BaldJean - February 18 2014 at 11:14 |

I have been trying to promote Frumpy ever since I came to this site. Inga Rumpf has more power in her voice than most other prog singers, including males. another band with Inga Rumpf is Atlantis. they are for some reason not in the archives yet though they are at least prog-related. and their first album is in my opinion definitely prog. and their "Live at Fabrik" album should be in every record collection. here two tracks from the first self-titled album of Atlantis. the first track has a quiet mid-section: it is not over after 4 and a half minutes and here a track from their second album "It's Getting Better" (which is my favorite of them apart from their live album): is this not at least prog-related stuff? especially when you keep in mind that the line-up of Atlantis is almost the same as that of Frumpy. and it is definitely heavy! |

Sort of in the same vein as Max Webster and Triumph:
Not technically prog, though I believe they were trying to target prog fans. They're even a bit symphonic.

Lucifer's Friend recorded 2 albums as the band Pink Mice. Pink Mice is a mixture of Classical and Heavy Prog Rock. All instrumental. Guru, Guru released an album titled Kanguru which starts off very smooth and distant and develops into some very heavy prog later.

I ind it interesting that you consider Karthago to be prog. Jean and I think so too, at least prog-related, but when we suggested them for the archives they were rejected. As to suggestions: The second album of Guru Guru, "Hinten", is really heavy. Here one track from it: |

Guru Guru are the chameleons of rock; almost every album is in a completely different style. So don't expect other albums of them to be that heavy; only "Hinten " has the heavy touch.
