Not as simple as you might think. Firstly a Special Collaborator (5 stars above his avatar) has to propose them to admins, and then admins have to approve them and add them. On a positive note there are several S.C.s posting in this thread who support their addition, and might be willing to propose them for Prog Related. On a more negative note (and far more significantly, Im afraid)
two of the current members of the admin team have said in this thread that they don't belong here, so I would imagine this idea is already dead in the water, despite nobody in the old ZART team that initially evaluated them having actually voted for rejection:
Tuxedomoon
Logan has already posted a condensed version of this chart on page 1 of this thread, but I'm reproducing it here in full to avoid having to jump back and forth. The blue dots in the above chart are a vote for Prog Related and the question marks mean 'not sure'. The two cogs icon in rileydog22's line near the bottom simply means 'need time'. One of the other members of the current admin team is also a prominent member of the present ZART team. It would be interesting to hear what his thoughts are regarding this band, and its eligibility for inclusion on here.

Strange. I'm surprised because, there are a tenths of a groups working far less demanding music than TM,
but they are listed here. But we can try, no matter we succeed or not. :) Take care and have a good day. Robbie

Prog Related is a very difficult category to get into due to the criteria needed.
I actually would put Tuxedomoon in the RIO/Avant category for the very RIO album Divine in particular, which is brilliant (I wonder if that album was evaluated) The whole album is on youtube if one looks. EDIT: here is the playlist on youtube, and I would strongly recommend it to fans of RIO: http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL70D68F46130BC908 Edited by Logan - December 17 2013 at 16:24 |

Wow a Tuxedo Moon thread, I don't think they belong here really, though the above album and their other 'ballet music' album the Ghost Sonata come close to what you will hear from the RIO bands in the 80s. Question is, was that because TuxedoMoon adapted prog influences or because those RIO bands (thinking UZ and Art Zoyd in particular) absorbed sounds, moods from post-punk? Personally I think the latter. Well they're all punks anyway ![]() |

They were absorbing musical ideas from academic music composers, of course -- Bartok, Stravinsky, avant-garde composers, minimalists, avant-garde comspoers etc.
I haven't heard Ghost Sonata yet (oh wait, I have). I find Divine hugely reminiscent of 80s Art Zoyd (who was also doing modern ballet music at much the same time). It like Ghost Sonata also reminds me of the Residents Eskimo (My favourite Residents album). To me that is not Prog Related, it is very much of an 80s RIO style. Some great chamber music in Ghost Sonata: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_oKOLE8Qh0&list=PL8CD91F1C3A79D4D1 For those that know them better than me, there is some serious academic music going on. Compositions and arrangements are very advanced. I need to know more about these guys. Is there much post-punk at this level? Edited by Logan - December 17 2013 at 16:45 |

Pick up their album 'Desire' A masterpiece imo and actually my first exposure to post-punk/new wave (together with Danielle Dax's debut). Those two albums opened the most wonderful can of worms and changed my life. After being a prog/hard-rock nerd in my teens I was suddenly one of the cool guys. ![]() Now where's that old dusty Fields of the Nephilim leather hat! Edited by Bonnek - December 17 2013 at 16:43 |

Will pick up Desire, thanks! I've explored their music a bit over the years -- knew them before I joined PA. The university radio station would play a lot of quirky music. Pretty diverse musically.
