I read that she was sick. Sad to hear that she's gone. And I was just getting familiar with some of her works. Will spin the only two albums I have by/with her, HC - S&G and Rags/The Golddiggers, again soon. RIP

Was listening to Unrest in the car - she really brought something special to Henry Cow, that's for sure.

I just realized she plays on some other albums I have as well - Slapp Happy's Desperate Straights and News From Babel's two albums. Gonna play them soon.

Dear Lindsay also performed on the Nic Potter album 'The Blue Zone'. So much fine work to enjoy from her. Not much Bassoon in Prog-Rock. Brian Gulland (Gryphon) and Roy Wood (Move, ELO) come to mind.

Damn, only just heard about this. I always found Cooper's contributions a highlight of any project she was involved with - she's one of those musicians where if I hear she appears on an album I'm immediately more likely to check it out. I must look into her solo discography at some point.
Nice to see that the Independent and Guardian websites ran very lengthy and knowledgeable obituaries for her at any rate.

Thanks Warthur! I hadn't even considered looking for a proper obituary. I've just read the Guardian one (link: http://www.theguardian.com/music/2013/sep/24/lindsay-cooper ) and it's made me realise just how much of her work I've yet to properly explore.
I've also discovered she studied at the same art college as me (albeit decades earlier!) - the now sadly deceased Dartington College of Arts.

I just read of her passing; I'm immensely sorry to hear.
Though Henry Cow introduced me to her and will remain my first love, she also played on one of my favourite Swans songs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIP7TVwsv1o Edited by Gordy - October 11 2013 at 14:27 |

Very impressed to hear that she'd been dealing with her MS since the late 1970s and stayed in music until it was literally physically impossible for her to continue. Having known people with the condition I know how much it takes out of you and the sheer reserves of strength, determination, and sheer grit involved to keep as active as she was able to up to her retirement beggar belief.

A wonderful talent.....love her on those Cow albums and on that Hillage disc. Sad, first MS stunts a remarkable career then leaving us too soon. Yes, I'll throw on Western Culture....she's all over that underrated gem both playing and composing.
