I have no doubt, still doesn't mean I have to like it To be fair, I thought graphics kinda plateaued years ago. They always get "better" but it's always in such fine or minute ways ya know? Half the time my brother will point these things out and I can't even notice! Years ago though they reached the point where it resembles real life and now we're just improving reality That said Last of Us is great. It really has a bleak atmosphere and a true sense of fear. So little ammo for most of the game, enemies that can end it in no time, I really am scared to do parts of it! So well done. |

No, not really. Just look at the PC versions of titles like The Witcher 2 and Crysis 3, as well as some of the upcoming titles. There's a lot of room for improvement, really; we've just been in an awful funk for the last few years because this console generation just wouldn't die. Games are mostly made to console specs, and the 360 is going on 8 years old. By contrast, the SNES showed up in 1990, followed by N64 in 1996 (5-and-a-half years later), then the Gamecube in 2001 (5 years later) and Wii in 2006 (5 years later). 5 years, give or take, has been the standard for ages. Sony followed a similar pattern -- 5 years for PS to PS2, 6 years from PS2 to PS3. We've been outdated and ready for a change for 3 years now. You might say 5 years from now that we haven't improved much, and that might not be far off in the sense that there's no active work on DX12 (current version is DX11, last-gen consoles are stuck on what amounts to DX9) and that budgets are stretched about as far as one can imagine they'd ever be. The main developments for the next years are going to be improvements to decrease development cost. Since every improvement in appearance must be met with an equivalent cost-saving measure, I don't expect to see huge leaps, just incremental improvements. |

Thank goodness for that. Honestly, (and I love my video games, trust me) I feel like they've rushed the generations of consoles in the past way too fast. Who cares if graphics don't advance that fast? Maybe I'm in the minority, but I've never found myself saying, "Man, I can't play this anymore. These graphics are just too outdated." As long as games are fun or have compelling stories or whatever, they'll be bought and played by gamers. Plus, it meant I could buy games instead of having to save up to buy a whole new console.

I just beat The Last Of Us.
Overall i loved the experience, it made me feel both fear and sympathy for the characters and situations. I won't spoil anything but i love the emotional factor of the game and the growth Ellie and Joel had. I found the combat fun and rewarding and the settings of the game were both fun to explore and fight in (the sniper scene was memorable). The only issue with the game is the silliness of the companion AI sometimes (Bill did it constantly..), where they would stomp around, be seen, or bump into enemies without any repercussions. It kind of made me facepalm a bit, but at least the slight clumsiness of the AI didn't really stab me in the back - it just sometimes broke the feeling at that moment. I would love to play the game on a higher difficultly or watch a friend play it for the first time. I won't try to rate it because that'll just ruin it for me. All i know is i wish more games were like this and had the same effect on me and my enthusiasm. |

Ironically, the multiplayer for Last of Us is pretty dope.
My other beef was MP is usually boring, they "try" but its all the same thing.
This one has a bit of a different feel and some real attempts at adding something to MP besides just killing. Pretty unique, naughty dog wins again!
Also its near impossible to be cheap. Ammo is low, kills come pretty difficult and there's no cheap perks and etc
This is MP I like : D

Some people have been mocking Microsoft for the decision, but I think it's just smart business. They realized that they failed so utterly to sell their vision that it had become irrelevant -- the road was closed, and it was detour or Xbox go home. Honestly, I have to say they pulled some of the biggest marketing f**k-ups in human history. They failed to justify their policies on any level and just made asses of themselves in every response to the controversy. |

So.
Cry Of Fear is the scariest game I've ever f**king played. It's also free to download and play on Steam. But holy sh*t. I thought Silent Hill and the Condemned games were the worst as far as scary went. http://store.steampowered.com/app/223710/?snr=1_7_15__13 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GB1yXGrSsA Edited by Sheavy - August 12 2013 at 15:12 |
