Bands prog fans generally hate but u like

With most black metal bands (Except for certain members of the norweigan 2nd wave, e.g. mayhem, burzum) the imagery and lyrics are intentionally over the top and for show. The raw production and sometimes simple structure of the songs could get to some prog fans I suppose, though some bands like enslaved, deathspell omega, sigh and blut aus nord are quite proggy and have good production.For me I guess it would maybe be some of the more underground rap I tend to listen to like Immortal technique, deltron 3030 and MC chris.Also, prog fans hate metal? Weird, because I would think there would be a large ammount of crossover from both to each other. I mean, they're both genres that started from rock but have grown to something somewhat apart from it, both have an emphasis on virtuosity and riffwork, a penchant for unconventional song structures and lyrical content different from the popular norm. Now, do prog fans hate the more underground metal or just the more mainstream, poppier stuff like say, disturbed, korn, avenged sevenfold, asking alexandria? Cause I like prog (haven't dug hugely into it) and have listened to a massive ammount of metal, and I like them for a lot of the same reasons.

If a lot of prog fans supposedly hated metal, then this site(PA) would be in trouble.

I absolutely love Tears For Fears and New Order.

My other gulity pleasure would be some Motey Crew songs. Sometimes I just need some Doctor feelgood. That is their best song ever!

Eddie money, His music is ok but baby hold on to me sounds like a mix of ideas to be honest.

I like electronic dance music, a music style which I am sure most prog fans will not like due to its repetitive nature and 4/4 time signature into infinity.  However, as a younger (much naughtier) individual, I used to attend large electronic music events.  Psytrance parties, Progressive raves, Funky House Parties, Hardfloor Parties, and such.  I think it is fair to say that these parties during that time in my life had a huge impact on me, something that I will carry with me always, as these events create an alternate reality that only people that have been there share.  Much in the same way Prog rock provides me with a similar alternate reality that I thoroughly enjoy.   I also obviously attended rock shows back then (also played in bands myself), but the electronic parties were just something different that I needed at the time, and I still listen to it regularly (as it takes me back to those days).  Something different and refreshing :)
