anyone knows if they plan to remaster this gem oneday : John G Perry - Seabird

This album is one of my top 5 canterbury album. So good !!!
The only copy I've downloaded from the net sound ridiculously like an old tape copied from another one. I have tried to reedit it myself with some DAWs, the result is ok but I still got this hissss sounding in the background showing this is not a professionnal record...

Sorry if that has already been discussed in the previous pages, I haven't read all so far... might take a look on some suggestions tho.

I have not yet heard 'Seabird', although I value his 'Sunset Wading' album.  Gave it a 5 star review a few years back.  Excellent bassist.

In an effort to get 2 or 3 of the top albums from each genre that I had not listened to before or owned any music in, I was surprised I did not have any Canterbury scene ablums, so I went for Carvan's In The Land of Grey and Pink.  I have heard some of it before and loved, but to listen to the whole thing...Great!

You'll be in for a treat the more you discover the Canterbury stuff, Jim! You've picked a great introduction, one of my absolute favourite albums, and it's probably THE Canterbury album proggers instantly think of when the genre is mentioned!

Many fans of the band will tell you that there's better Caravan albums than that (still no 1 for me, even though I love their other ones), but you've started well.

Hopefully others can suggest what band/album to look into next, but I'll get a head start and suggest the second, mostly intrumental National Health album `Of Queues and Cures'!

^ Thanks guys for the suggestions, both sound good from what I have read.  Khan looks to be a challenge to find (without spending the wife's inheritance..Tongue), but the National Health one is quite available.

You can get space Shanty from Wayside for $18. All the NH's are excellent, I'd start with Of Queues & Cures.

All those mentioned as well as the two Hatfield lp's. I find myself playing those more than Caravan , National Health, and Egg over the years.

I probably play the two Hatfields, the 2 NH's and Caravan's Land Of and If I Could more than any othe Canterbury albums. Those are my top 6 Canterbury albums.

I never considered myself a particular Canterbury fan, but if I can count owning Canterbury Tales (Best of Caravan) as owning three Caravan albums, I own 11 of the top 12 PA Canterbury album.  Hmm!

Just drifting away from the recommendation posts for a second, I wanted to ask....has anyone else bought the new Soft Machine Legacy album `Burden Of Proof? I'd be interested in some opinions and thoughts!

I was a little surprised to find some Crimson and even blues influences worked into the usual Caterbury sound for this one! There's so many ideas and different sounds, perfect late night listening!

Haven't heard it but based on what you said I will definitely be checking it out.

Dr Wu, it's got a couple of longer extended pieces, with a whole bunch of little fragments/experimental pieces/short passages in between them, but it all flows beautifuly and runs through a lot of different moods and feelings. It's a terrific album, and I'm going to be giving it a real workout over the next few weeks!

Sounds good....I'll be buying it then when I get the extra money. Canterbury is one of my my favorite niches in prog.

More jazzz fusion but I hear some Canterbury influence.
 
Zoppo Trump give me a Canterbury feel also and that melody line sounds like some other band but i can't recall who it is.
