Also, new laptop = awesome!!!
And even in the context of the movie, I fail to see the point of that Italian journalist singing "Tengo Na Minchia Tanta", a song recorded in the 80s as the film was being completed.  It's not even a good song.

Well I heard Mr Young sing about us
Well I heard old Neil put her down
Well I hope Neil Young will remember
A Southern Man don't need him around anyhow

Now, I respect Lynyrd Skynyrd, let's get that clear right off the bat.  I think for the most part their lyrics were intelligent, witty, and a lot less "rednecky" than most people think.  BUT, this verse has always bothered me.  Why is this a good comeback?  Wouldn't it have been just as effective if the last line read, "Well, your mama's ugly" ?

Discuss
Not much of a comeback, perhaps. It was meant as a message to Young to "butt out", "don't lecture us about our lifestyle", "we'll take care of our own problems" or something like that. But it was meant as a joke anyway. LS and NY were fans of each other's music.
Or so I've read anyway.

Yes, Ronnie and Neil were friends.  I'm sure they had no real animosity towards each other, but what concerns me is how US Southerners often use this song  (specifically that verse) as a point of pride for bragging rights, like they won an argument or something.

Maybe I'm overthinking this. LOL  Just an idle thought in my head today.

Nope, never heard of them.  I took a quick listen to the song on their page and it really has a strong Genesis flavor to it.  Interesting.  Thanks!

It really is. One of the earliest jazz-rock compositions ever made. The melody came from Lumpy Gravy at least 2 years earlier. But Zappa had an even earlier JR/F piece in the form of Invocation & Ritual Dance Of The Young Pumpkin, from Absolutely Free in 1967. Frank was always waaay ahead of his time.

New laptop has Windows 8, which I am quickly getting used to, and really enjoying. Not to mention it's very fast.

Yep.  Listening to the album on Spotify.  Vocalist sounds like Peter Gabriel and the added touch of the flute does give them a Genesis feel.

What's the point of censoring movies? If you hear a f--k, you know what they're saying; it's still inviting the same ideas into your head. People are more afraid of the word it's self than the meaning.

It's because they can control words, but cannot control thought... yet.

i like Progressive rock ballads, more then progressive heavy jazz rock

Epitaph  >>>>>>> LTIA prt 1

I talk To the Wind >>>> Picture of the City

why are progressive ballads so much misunderstood as the most integral part of prog, IMO, the epic long romantic ro sad progressive rock ballads
