I do. Once you acquire a certain amount of albums, you will too.

Yep. A big chunk of my collection hasn't been heard in years.

I bought a stereo system with a record player and CD converter last spring, so a lot of my vinyls have gotten their first listens in over 10 years or probably more.

Oh yes, there is definitely some jazz in there, but I firstly think of that era as more popish, mellower, than anything else they've done, that I've heard. No matter what it's called, jazz-era or pop-era, they changed their style, that's for sure! What did you think of Phanerothyme, btw? And how is The Death Defying Unicorn? I've yet to hear that one (amongst others).

There's a certain chunk of my collection I haven't heard at all.

Sadly, that is quite true as well. That is the downside of buying 30 CDs at a time. Some of them never get listened to by the time I buy the next batch and move on. Especially since I have really been trying to listen to everything in my collection alphabetically. I've been on a break from that for about a month while I hone up on as many 2012 releases as possible. Will start back up with Renaissance next week after I get my top 10 vote submitted for PA.

I got the Death Defying Unicorn last September, so I've had it for a while. However, at the same time, I also acquired The Swans' "Seer" album (a huge deal for me), so it kind of monopolized my attention at the expense of the Motorpsycho album. I'm still not head-over-heels in love with it, but I admire and enjoy it enough for it to be ranked very highly (#4 I think) on my Best of 2012. Phanerothyme struck me as a lot more tuneful and fun, which I appreciate. And several songs went in areas that made me think "whoa, how did the song get here?". So I liked it, probably at least as much as the Unicorn one. And that was just streaming. But I went ahead and purchased a download for "Heavy Metal Fruit", and though I haven't finished that one yet, I think I like it the best of the three. Very heavy and quite psychedelic, not quite as dense as Unicorn but not quite as whimsical as Phanerothyme. Of course, this is all just initial impressions.

I do see the wisdom in your alphabetical listening scheme. When I buy a lot of things at a time, some things just get put aside and not listened to for a long time.

Scott, I was about to say, is your collection marathon taking so long, that the first albums you started with have now not been listened to in years?
What's up with Motorpsycho? I've seen them mentioned many times over the last year or two.

Yes. It has been ongoing for about 3 years now, so the A bands have not been listed to in years.
Aginor is really big into Motorpsycho. Death Defying Unicorn is in a number of people's top albums. I want to check it out for my year-end list but haven't done so yet.

I guess that it is about time that I put my Christmas decorations away. Time to come up with a new avatar. Hmmm.

I like it. It is like their other albums in they remind me of a cross between Queen and U2 with a large dose of Coldplay. They've added dubstep to a couple of songs to keep up with the trends.
