I've only heard Gangham style the one time on New Year's Eve and thought it was pretty horrible. I've heard "Call Me Maybe" enough times that I actually find myself tapping my foot and nodding my head to it. I guess that it is pretty catchy if I don't think to hard about it. I don't know that I have heard "What Makes You Beautiful" or not.

It's a song by "One Direction" and it sounds like Fountains of Wayne meets N-Sync or something. Just polished auto-tuned, quiet verse/loud chorus guitar pop. It's about a girl he likes who's hot but is still shy and insecure.

I suppose you have no choice but to hear songs like that when you have a young daughter at home. I've probably heard it or part of it somewhere or another, but offhand it doesn't ring any bells, and I have no desire to YouTube it to see if I have heard it or not.

Don't bother, you're not missing much.
Both songs are on the Just Dance Wii game. At least she's getting exercise while listening, which is more than I can claim for my Pink Floyd. |

I was just thinking about the band I sang for in high school, and what stupid names we considered (and decided on) for our band.
Elements of Surprise Truth on Wheels Rare Earth (believe it or not, we were not aware there was a real band with this name) Dark Secret The Lost Embryos I always liked the last one, but we ended up with #4, Dark Secret. I still have a rehearsal tape of that band, which I digitized. It's got the most horrible version of Def Leppard's "Bringin' on the Heartbreak" ever conceived.

Under the orange moon the stars are playing
I can't hear what they're saying Massive balls of glamour glitter swaying in the night Stargazer at your high rise window Watch the stars tonight Stargazer at your high rise window Watch the stars tonight And through the colored stars, skyscrapers on a pedestal Of moonlit covered water Mirrors constellations, so the view is twice as nice Stargazer at your high rise window Watch the stars tonight Stargazer at your high rise window Watch the stars tonight -- one of Dark Secret's originals, written by the brother/sister team of Pablo and Mabi. 2012 hits? I think Somebody That I Used to Know is a fairly brilliant song, actually. I've heard more Gangnam style than is healthy, unfortunately.

Gangnam Style wasn't a bad song at all. Gotye's whole album Making Mirrors was very good, it's nice to see that someone made a hit song that wasn't really crappy.

Isn't that the song about the kid who masturbates while watching "Stacey's mom" through a window? People write the weirdest f**king songs. |

Was getting my haircut when Call Me Maybe came on the radio. My head started bobbing involuntarily and the scissors slipped.

Just returned from used CD store where I picked up 30 CDs for only $100. Much upcoming happiness for my ears. |

double-plus-sweetness! Not just the price, but the fact that you found 30 CDs you wanted. Huge score there.

That moment when you're listening to an album, and going in you're not really digging it, but you come out thinking it's a really good album.
