I just made a major discovery about the Rush vs. King Crimson battle here on PA, I found that after the first 2 Rush albums(which don't really get much love here on PA) even though I find them excellent releases but not 5 stars by any stretch. The majority of people here on PA like Rush's music moreShockedShocked. You guys might say oh it's because they're more accessible(I don't think that that matters because Prog Rock is still pretty darn complex and the average person doesn't understand it) but the people's overall opinion matters most and they have rated Rush music a little bit betterShocked. Rush's music can stand with any King Crimson record, believe thatShockedShocked

"Hold that red star emblem so proudly high in hand"

Don't say that "ohh" King Crimson is not accessible, that's bullsh*t because in the end it's all Prog.

ITCOTCK and Red album are in the PA top 10, but no Rush album is.

You can't turn around now and say that's because this site has a huge bunch of KC fanboys (and absolutely nothing to do with how good the albums might be), that's just bullsh*t because in the end it's all Prog.  Wink

Yeah but Red and In The Court don't really deserve to be there in my opinion, you are right in the end it's all prog

Height of contradictions.   You can't cite the popularity of Rush in one instance and then dismiss the ratings of KC albums in the other.  It's one thing to have your opinion on music and another to assault that of others.

where are the contradictions it's all stats and ratings, I'm not assaulting anyone here or am I??

the contradiction is originally you brought up how Rush have such higher ratings on PA as if that is a testament of their quality, and when someone brought up that In The Court.. and Red are in the PA top 10, you replied that "they don't deserve to be there".

so pretty much you're contradicting yourself because when Rush do well with PA ratings it's because they're so good but when KC do it's because they're overrated and don't deserve to be there

Well, get back to converse here when you have cured yourself of those.  Or just admit you got owned, metalhead.

I find King Crimson far more satisfying. I used to be big on Rush long ago, but mostly lost interest in the band.  I still like some Rush, and when I hear Rush on the radio I don't turn it off (not that I listen to much radio music any more).  Caress of Steel is my favourite Rush album, I think, but it was Hemispheres and Moving Pictures that made me once fall-in love with the band (had lots of good times with that music in high school).  King Crimson was quite a late discovery -- I've only known the band for about ten years.  Hearing "21st Century Schizoid Man" played an important part in my resurgent interest in Prog and rock generally (as I'd gone off rock music for quite a few years -- I was more into classical, jazz, and electronic music).  My favourite albums by KC are Larks' Tongues in Aspic and Lizard. Islands is another favourite.  I dodn't really listen to much King Crison or Rush any longer, but King Crimson can still hold my interest well, and I still have more that I'd like to explore by the band.

While, I don't really like these "which is better?" topics, I can safely say that King Crimson is better for me.  Actually, I really do think KC better, but it's all just opinion.  Rush has tended to strike me as rather more superficial -- not that I consider either really deep or harmonically complex (and, trios like with chamber music certainly can have very satisfying harmonies, but Rush is very limited by the arranh=gements they can pull off unless employing studio trickery. Ggeddy Lee plays keyboards, of course, and a piano  can create great harmonies on its own).  I do think Rush might have been better if they took on more musicians to work with -- give them a wider musical palette to work with.

Just teasing him.   Some metalheads I've met have a massive superiority complex and go around ridiculing other's tastes.   It's very important for them to pwn others to oblivion and never admit to the same themselves.  One 'homegrown' metalhead ridiculed my fondness for ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali and I paid him back by telling him off for listening to, for heaven's sake, Bryan Adams.   Again, height of contradictions, eternally oblivious to one's own choices.

I'm one of those rare prog/metalheads that doesn't have a superiority complex unlike you guys, I admit my faults

^ For the last time: it's not about King Crimson; it's about your attitude, how you abuse this forum for your abominable propaganda. Nobody around here likes propaganda.
