Many Americans claim that anyone who is not a Tea Party Republican is by definition a Communist.

Then again, these folks claim that Communism, Socialism, Fascism, Liberalism and Totalitarianism are all synonymous.

"Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard." -- H.L. Mencken

And you call yourself a prog fan. Suffice it to say that the lyrics are terrible, despite what Snow Dog and others would have you believe.

The first thing we need to do is stopping this b*t of "right = liberal = employers" and "left = socialist = employees".
This cliche thinking is causing much harm to modern society, it may have have some sense in the early 20th century but we should be past it by now.

I won't say that there a lot of prog fans which are from the right wing.
I would rather say that prog fans happening to have right wing opinions are more likely to brag about it.

For my part, being French (1789, 1848, 1871, 1936, 1981, you see, the kind of things...) and having read or heard about some this Eurocommunist thing from the Italian Communist Party, I can say I have voted for the French Communist Party on several occasions without remorse.

That said, it doesn't mean that I have read the whole works of Marx and Engels (Rosa Luxembourg spotted some mathematical errors in Marx theories) and, above all, I would never sympathise with the politics of the USSR (not even Trostky!), the former Warsaw Pact regimes, China, North Korea or Kampuchea.

And now, let's all celebrate Tito for allowing the Yugoslavian kids to play Rock'n'Roll music even if he send political opponents on the Goli Otok island. Clown

I'm an employee myself, but I have learnt to be more than wary about those cliches.

As a red-blooded American, I'm contractually obligated to hate the French, but I love Victor Hugo, Baudelaire, Hector Berlioz and Erik Satie. So respect there.

Stalin wasn't stallin'
when he told the beast of Berlin
that they'd never rest contented
till they had driven him from the land
So he called the Yanks and English
and proceeded to extinguish
the Fuhrer and its vermin
this is how it all began

Now, the Devil, he was reading
in the Good Book one day
how that Lord created Adam
to walk the righteous way
and it made the Devil jealous
he turned green up to his horns
and he swore by things unholy
and he made one of his own

So he packed two suitcases
full of greed and misery
and he caught the Midnight Special
going down to Germany
then he mixed his lies and hatred
with fire and brimstone
then the Devil sat upon it
that's how Adolf was born

Now Adolf got the notion
that he was the master race
and he swore he'd bring New Order
and put mankind in its place !
So he set a scheme in motion
and was winning everywhere
until he up and got the notion
for to kick that Russian bear

Stalin wasn't stallin'
when he told the Beast of Berlin
that they'd never rest contented
till they had driven him from the land
So he called the Yanks and English
and proceeded to extinguish
the Fuhrer and its vermin
this is how it all began

I'd say we have quite the same dynamic here and you are one of its biggest proponents here in PA.

Some people say you are out of touch. Really right = liberal = employers and left = socialist = employees, that makes no sense except to the delusional.

I am a liberal with leftist sympathies, but i detest communism  "where some people are more equal than others"
I guess you could call me a democratic socialist.

What about our plutocracy, where some people are more equal than other? I ID with democratic socialist.  Capitalism is a good system when it is well regulated.
