Yup....They are in.....here is a quote from Geddy Lee. Very respectful as I expected them to act......class act for sure, but with some added humor which is perfect.

Bassist/vocalist Geddy Lee told Rolling Stone, "It's a terrific honor and we'll show up smiling...It made my mom happy, so that's worth it." He added, "It was a cause [Rush fans] championed," he says. "I'm very relieved for them and we share this honor with them, for sure."

The band also issued an official statement: "We are honored to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The 3 of us are especially appreciative of our loyal fans whose support and dedication has gone a long way to making this possible. P.S. And special thanks to our moms for voting 6000 times!"

I get the feeling that Geddy doesn't really care. I don't either. Also, Public Enemy and Randy Newman inducted with Rush??? Give me a break.

Not to mention Donna Summer.  Not voting in Deep Purple before voting in a disco star, a rap star, and a movie jingo star (I guess, I really don't know what Randy Newman does) is pretty stupid.  Maybe these all fall under the rock umbrella, but I've never considered them to be rock artists.  Although I think that I do remember someone saying that Donna Summer actually has an album that might qualify as a prog album.  Shocked

I'm with you, in that all I know Randy Newman to be famous for is the main theme songs for all three Toy Story movies, and maybe light comedy movie at some point.

Yes isn't inducted yet, and they've been around longer. But I find the RnR Hall of Fame has 0 credibility. Their name alone doesn't reflect all the bands and artists included in it.

Congrats to Rush but Purple not being in is frankly ridiculous.

An OK year. Still better than the past year. And maybe why Deep Purple and Kraftwerk are not inducted is because Deep Purple said that the RnRHoF is for old men, and that Kraftwerk would not give a s**t about the award and that both band are maybe disliked by the commite. But Rush being inducted sure rocks. Now for the other inductees:

Heart: They were a great female rock band, and the fourth most deserving inductee in my opinion because of their early albums. They changed rock n' roll. And they proved that women can write great rock songs and can rule a band. Some of their albums aren't good but they deserve to be in there.

Randy Newman: Ok, he's a great composer but IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME !!! He isn't rock n' roll.

Public Enemy: OH !!! Another rap band. Adding a very bad choice this year.

Donna Summer: An important disco artist that isn't rock.

Albert King: An important forgotten blues man.

So, in the list of deserving artists (that is my opinion):
Yes: Rush, Heart
Borderline Yes: Albert King
No: Randy Newman, Donna Summer
Don't believe the hype of this artist (that's a big NO): Public Enemy

I say fourth for Heart because they are ten times more known than Procol Harum

Ahhhhhhh !!! Love To Love You Baby.

It's because it's 17 minutes of pure sexual innuendo in the song.

Rush are okay---there is a sameness to their sound that bother's me---but in keeping with the joke that is the Rock and Roll hall of fame---the fact that prog pioneers like Yes are not even considered seems strange to me. I mean would Rush sound like they do if Yes hadn't come before them? I mean even Rush has admitted that Yes were a huge influence when they were young guns coming out of Canada.

You're saying Disco isn't rock but electronic pioneers are?

So let me get this straight. RUN DMC is in, but not KRAFTWERK? The rap group is in, but not the synth wizards that created so much influence for metal bands to use more keyboards in their overall sound??? What kind of cosmic bunny hole did navigate into? What the hell is happening?

Rush has a much bigger fanbase than Yes. I would love to see Yes inducted.

Kraftwerk were not a rock band but they had a huge impact on rock bands to use electronics in their music. Just look at their album covers. Donna Summer had a good voice but wasn't as influental as Kraftwerk. Their music is unique, experimental and fun. They are deserving.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is the stupidest idea in the entire history of stupid ideas. What's next, an Artists' Hall of Fame? Will Rembrandt get in, or won't he? Go Van Gogh! We can have cheerleaders in uniform and stadiums with marching bands. I say this, having once found myself in Cleveland and accidentally wandering over to what turned out to be the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. What the hell, I thougth, and had a wander in. Cool place to visit. That's not my point. Call it the Rock & Roll Museum. But a Hall of Fame? Perish the idea! Ugh, Americans!!!!
