Commiserations Scott.

At least your team made sure the Yankees didn't win it.

At the July trade deadline the two 2nd baseman that were most rumored to becoming to Detroit were Omar Infante and Marco Scutaro.  I had no interest in Scutaro so I was quite happy when we got Infante; although not thrilled to give up our number 1 pitching prospect in the process.  Infante played decent, but it looks like we got the wrong guy, and how ironic that he gets the game-winning RBI to clinch the series.

And so ends a pretty exciting, tense, and wild season. Even if the scheduling in the post season was a little whacky.

Im sure there will be grumbles about the Giants being in constant playoff mode while the Tigers had to sit, and there could be validity to that but thankfully most seem to not be saying that.
Hey I'd love another fight with your O's Jody, was nice to see my Yanks finally have to really play for once! We all know they will implode come post season anway, even if this one was extra fail.

While that used to be a sad joke...it seems perfectly reasonbale now, at least on paper.

Yanks seem dedicated (at least in word) to lowering budget : O : O
Soriano has been let go, I think we can cope and frees up $13mill and Swisher will most likely go. I like him but would 100% support the move, and frees another 10 mill I believe. And hes a post season flop.
Baby steps in the right direction.

There are rumors about bringing in Josh Hamilton though....great player but gotta be concerned with his addiction issues in the biggest stage of them all. For his sake almost seems wrong to doErmm

Of course rumors quickly floated here that the Tigers were interested in signing both Swisher and Soriano.  I support the idea of signing Soriano but please absolutely just say no to Swisher.

Swisher is a solid player, and he has a good eye and can be very stubborn at the plate. I really would miss him, but he's just a total playoff bust. Not a great player but could be a decent pick up. Just dont spend much LOL  If I was a team in desperate need, clearly the Tigers are not one, I'd sign him.

Soriano doesn't have much of a resume, and I'd find it ironic if someone gave him big bucks and he flops...but if he keeps up that play, it'll hurt to see him go. Still I think the pen/Robertson can cover.

I really hope they keep Ichiro.

Granderson has taken a lot of flak after the WS, with many read to send him packing. Even I am shocked at this level of fickleness! Give the guy at least another year. I like him.

And A Bomb....you miserable wretch what the hell is gunna happen with you? Talk about lose lose. Either he goes back to his spot and plays like he's been playing, or they keep screwing around and make another circus. I'll hold naive faith that this will all inspire him to not suck but I know betterCry
Huzzah! With power back I can unleash all my pent up sports rage!

So let's see.  The Tigers are going to resign Anibel Sanchez; sign Rafael Soriano as their closer; sign Nick Swisher, Angel Pagan, and Josh Hamilton.  Melky Cabrera also wants to play with the Tigers.  Oh and they are also going to trade their top two prospects in order to get Justin Upton.  And then maybe we will also sign Zach Greinke and Torii Hunter just because we can.  I guess this is kind of what it is like to be a Yankees' fan year in and year out.  Every top free agent and potential trade bait player is going to sign or be traded to your team. LOL

Wow!! I did not see this one coming: http://www.tsn.ca/mlb/story/?id=409433

Those NL/AL blockbusters can be a thing of beauty.  Or perhaps I'm way too nostalgic for the Carter/Alomar trade. LOL

Reyes brings that shadow of doubt...both about how he will hold up physically and how much of his will is being brought....but when he's on he's a very good, I'd even say great, player.
The east is either gunna be a helluva conference, oooooor the Sahx keep sucking and the Yanks finally slide. Thus bringing the day everyone has hoped for: An AL East led by the Os and Blue Jays and Marlins while the Yanks and Sahx fight for last.

....Then the MLB leaders commit suicide

The Jays have apparently signed Melky Cabrera to a 2 year deal.  Sounds like they are serious about trying to compete in the AL East next year.

It's about damn time.  We still need a manager though.

Not now ! Gibby is back !  I think that's a great move and hopefully Anthopolis isn't quite done yet but even if he is this is quite the overhaul.
