I would love to see both Rush and Deep Purple get in to the Hall of Fame.  I mean, not only are they actually rock and roll, they rock better than just about anybody else.  Headbanger

I wonder when the establishment changes its name to the more truthful Western Popular Music Hall of Fame.

FCensoredk the inductions of Run DMC and Grandmaster Flash. They are rap groups not rock groups.

I just checked and other important artists have been snubbed including:

Devo, Electric Light Orchestra, Emerson Lake & Palmer, Peter Gabriel, King Crimson, Yes.

No Iron Maiden, no Judas Priest, No Deep Purple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

If you look at the list
Theres hardly a shred of prog- its all junk rock mostly and from the nostalgic past. Run DMC is in but Rush is not!
Beastie Boys are in but Kiss is not....
Tom Waits is in but no Rush........
Abba are in but No RUNAWAYS - they pioneered girl rock groups

we have on the list: in chronological order of being inducted

The Beatles - prog related on some album but really.... no surprise they are so essential

The Who - again related to prog in certain songs - again just essential rock

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - some tracks have prog elements but no surprises hes in

The Doors - More prog related stuff but essential of course to rock

Led Zeppelin - prog related - essential to rock totally

Frank Zappa - perhaps the most proggy act so far but more into jazz fusion as we know

David Bowie - prog related again but no surprise hes in

Jefferson Airplane- lovely to see these psych proggers in

Pink Floyd - the first full blown prog band in so far, but they are so popular they had to get in

Santana - nice to see these jazz fusion guys in

Queen - did you doubt it? the masters of rock

Steely Dan - well there ya go

Traffic - nice to see some proto prog

Black Sabbath - ah yes that must have pleased Ozzy - they should be there but so should Deep Purple!

Miles Davis - Miles Smiles at this legendary inductee

Metallica - yay two horns up for the sole thrash metal act inductee

Genesis - gotta be happy with that but they snubbed Peter Gabriel as a sole artist

Small Faces/Faces - last years sole prog related act - sheesh!

Rock and Roll Hall of Lame is more like it/

You think Kiss deserve to be in the RnR Hall of Fame?

Besides, since King Crimson are not in the Hall, something seriously wrong has been with the Hall for frucking ages.

King Crimson are definitely deserved of the Hall of Fame but I mention Kiss becuase of their influence to hard rock - most artists cite them as a major influence, and they virtually owned the period between 77 and 81 they were so popular they ruled the world. It all went pear shaped when they cut the hair and released Elder, tho I liked it. Then they took the makeupoff and it was downhill from there. The fact they are still together and have a new album shows their longevity and they are still quite popular.

^ ... although I still don't understand why we still bother so much with this RnR HoF.

Hm ... looks like I don't know about Kiss as much as I should, though I've never heard anyone boast about them during that four/five-year period.

Let's be honest: As much as I appreciate Kraftwerk, they have as little of a place in a rock and roll hall of fame as Run DMC.

I'm just so glad that RUSH are getting more respect and appreciation than they ever have. I also have thoroughly enjoyed the recent RUSH documentary movie, BEYOND THE LIGHTED STAGE. An absolutely amazing movie and it kind of brought a bit of a tear to my eye because RUSH was the band that started it all for me in terms of my deep love for prog and it's many sub genres. I am honored to say that RUSH was my gateway band to prog.....lots n' lots of prog!!

Oh and FYI I've watched BEYOND THE LIGHTED STAGE nearly 10 times already. I'm nuts I know.

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣
