"If Incubus, Tool and Meshuggah had a threesome, they'd name their child Syqem." - Salvadore Dali in 1952...
From Hamburg, and formed in 2003, Syqem were some of the very early Meshuggah followers, but developing their own style ever since, more melodic & more song orientated. For non musicians, they could become THE gate to technical/djent/heavy music. Syqem is about feel, not showing off technical abilites, and their music is intended to satisfy all kinds of different genre-lovers. After 4 EPs over several years, 2012 is the year of Syqem, and their new album 'Reflections Of Elephants', said to be inspired by the life of Salvadore Dali, was released in the summer of this year.We already have them in Metalmusicarchives: http://www.metalmusicarchives.com/syqem.aspx, but I feel there is enough of a progressive aspect to their music to enable them to be added on this site too. Syqem are: Daniel Bernath - 8 String Guitar, VocalsBenjamin Shibata - 8 String Guitar Thomas Bernath - Bass Stefan Kopetsch - Drums http://www.facebook.com/syqemfanhub http://www.myspace.com/syqem (bio in German & 6 samples, including two from their 2007 debut full album) http://www.youtube.com/user/SYQEMhttp://www.syqem.net/ http://got-djent.com/band/syqem But to listen to their stuff: http://syqem.bandcamp.com/ http://syqem.bandcamp.com/album/collection-of-elephants (sadly only the first track is available for streaming) And: ![]() Edited by yam yam - November 04 2012 at 12:55 |
