My uncle flew on the Concorde on several occasions and said it was like sitting on a toilet for 5 hours.

Also the A10 Thunderbolt, affectionately known as the Warthog.Simply a bad ass, tank killing piece of machinery. The 175th Wing of the Air National Guard, stationed at Martin State Airport near my home, flies these.I saw Warthogs do their thing in Desert Storm and they were impressive.

That's an Me262. The lesser-known Me242 was flown by Bitler in his quest to destroy the evil canine invaders from galaxy XLXII. |

That must have been Photoshopped. but the A-10 is probably one of the most dangerous pieces of hardware that the Americans possess. Hats off !

No Photoshop in 1972 Roger Dean grafted a real seagull skull onto a Airfix plastic model and tried to photograph it but could not achieve a natural looking depth of field, so he painted it.
I was once buzzed by a pair of those buggers (Tankbusters as we knew them in the 70s - I think Warthog was a later name) while riding my motor-cycle up a steep hill - they were terrain following at some stupidly low altitude up the other side and we sort of met at the brow of the hill - scary, but then me on a Yamaha will scare anyone, even USAAF pilots.

When they were testing these ugly things back in the 70's they would remove sections of the emanage and main wing section just to see if it could sustain ground fire damage. I was talking with an armour oficer once and he said that he '' wouldn't want to be in a tank with one of those ugly f**kers around''. |
