I'm too lonely so I've taken up the responsibility of being both a man and woman. It's working out quite nicely.

some of his paintings were put into music by Norwegian composer Martin Romberg. The pictures selected for his compositions are listed below in the 2nd part (tableaux fantastiques) of the beautiful record of piano music he recorded for the LAWO label :

^ Yerka in music, great! And I see Valaquenta, that's something from Tolkiens's Silmarillion. I must hear this! Edited by Glucose - June 30 2012 at 16:41 |

I'm a man who doesn't know that many women and the few he knows don't like prog, but whose girlfriend favorite band is Dream Theater.

Yes, the first part is a tribute to Tolkien. On youtube, the Tableaux fantastiques tunes play with paintings from Yerka. An example with the cathedrals :

Or it is the final irrefutable evidence that DT is not prog. Edited by The T - June 30 2012 at 17:02 |

^I remember having in my teens a tape with DT's 'images and words' on one side and Death's 'individual thought patterns' on the other side. I was not yet seriously into prog at that time, but I remember having difficulties to listen to the Death album in its entirety, while I often listened with delight to the whole DT album. Also, before I copied the DT album to tape, I borrowed from the local library Van halen's 'Balance', and to be honest, I found DT to be stylistically in a similar genre to van Halen...It's only later that I learned they are tagged prog metal.

I'm a man and know a very select few women who enjoy prog. Surprisingly enough, one of them likes groups like Alamaailman Vasarat as opposed to, say, Porcupine Tree.

My mom likes DT's "A Dramatic Turn of Events," and likes Iona too. One of my sisters likes Rush, Genesis, Dream Theater, and Yes, and even can appreciate The Mars Volta, and she's ten years old. My other sister likes Dream Theater and kind of likes Rush. The only women I know who like any prog at all are members of my family, and this is my fault.

.
Feeling sad about it because VanDerGraaf is my fav band from all prog rock bands, and there are probably not more than 2 or 3 women in the world who likes them. Ungrateful girls!
I’ve met two of them: Mette, who studied geology in Bergen (she was also an avid fan of Gentle Giant), and Adriana, a Spanish woman who dated a friend of mine. At a party in my house she came up to me and asked me to put on to……………night!, meaning The Undercover Man. But luckily your assumption is not true. We have the bald ones (Jean and Friede) here, and have a look at this: http://www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/lady-starlight-adds-more-metal-to-lady-gaga-shows/ So you’re not as alone as you think. |
