Well, I do live in Europe, so what do you expect? There are a lot of excellent Eurpean comics.

I haven't read 2000AD for ages - aside from the obvious Judges, characters like Sinister Dexter, Nemesis/Torquemada, Strontium Dog, Durham Red, Tyranny Rex, Nicolai Dante, Rogue Trooper, etc, were just superb. (Even Bec and Kawl).

Nicolia Dante is on his final story, he has been through the wringer in previous stories. Durham red is back with Carlos Ezquerra on art duties as is Strontium Dog. In my opinion Sinister/ Dexter hasn't bee good for years where it was once superb. Major events occuring at the moment in Dredd. A huge story arc.

Dean: 2000AD was way ahead of Marvel and DC in its prime. Still a decent read, though there is an air of "past glories" to it.

PS You forgot Ace Trucking Company.

...nnnnnggghh ... don't tempt me - 2000AD and the Megazine were costing me a fortune - it seemed like the cover-price increased with every issue ... I can remember when it was 8p a copy, what is it now? £2.00? £4.00 for the Megazine?

...Oh, I forgot ABC Warriors and Slaine - they were good too.
What?

I reckon they should have stayed black and white. Was nothing wrong with it, was way cheaper.

I've got a lot of old Marvel comics in cheap black and white reprints and no kidding, a lot of them look better. Until the 90s, colouring could be pretty suspect, especially something like the Hulk where there were all sorts of crimes against the eye regarding his purple and green colour scheme. In black and white you get nice clean lines and bold inks, makes it so much easier to appreciate the artists skill. Colouring can distract you from the quality of the pencilling.

2000AD is £2.40 I think, not sure about the Megazine as I simply cannot afford both. Both ABC Warriors and Slaine are still going though, as returning stories. depends how busy Pat Mills is I suppose.

Finally saw the Avengers. Damn that was good, one of the best superhero movies ever. Fantastic.

AND trailers for Batman 3 and the Spiderman reboot. Both look good- you expect that of Batman though, while Spiderman seems like it might be an improvement on the previous series. (Which isn't saying much if you're talking about Spiderman 3... what a turd that was... going to the premiere of that was just about the most inadvertently terrible birthday gift I ever got.)

Marvel for me.

I think my favourite character is Deathlok the Demolisher.  The internal conversations he has with his in-built computer are pure pathos:

Haiku

Writing a poem
With seventeen syllables
Is very diffic....

ture

The New 52 is really exciting, Batman has really been refreshed by it.

Yeah, that's why Marvel keeps making millions on their movies and the DC ones (except for Batman) are all flops....
Wink

The movies are terrible though, just because they make money doesn't mean they're good. That and they just find star-studded casts to up the advertising. At least the new Nolan Batman movies aren't like that.

Eh, whatever. Just not a fan and don't think that money is a good argument of which comic book company is better.

What do you mean "Eh whatever"? Are you surprised? I don't get it. I  have made no argument about money either. don't know what you're getting at.

No, I wasn't making the money argument with you more at dtguitarfan or whatever.

Eh whatever was directed at you because I don't enjoy the films but you can have your own opinion. Tongue

Any Blade fans need to read the original Tomb Of Dracula series he originally appeared in. Surprisingly well-written and features some of Gene Colan's best work.

I've always been a big Marvel fan, back from the day of the Dark Phoenix Saga and Tony Stark's battle with alcoholism.  Growing up anyway, the DC were less complicated and much less adult than the Marvels.  Not sure about today though.  And it's not that I don't enjoy the occasional DC comics, I just found Marvel to be superior.
I can understand your anger at me, but what did the horse I rode in on ever do to you?
