I have never met an Archie fan, yet they keep producing the damn thing decade after decade. I suspect it's a front for money laundering.
 
I once wrote a mock article about how comic fans across the land were incredibly shocked to learnt that Archie had still not been canceled.
 
Once it became clear that a threesome between Archie, Betty and Veronica was never gonna happen, it lost its appeal.

I read a few issues of Y: The Last Man - not really my thing. I don't care for the art style or the dialogue. Would've been an interesting concept in the hands of a guy like Jose Saramago, but the three issues I read didn't catch me in the slightest.

DC for me.  I just like the universe and storytelling aesthetic better than Marvel; it's generally less cynical and more fantastic, and I usually prefer fantasy over realism.  Also, Kingdom Come (my all-time favorite graphic novel) is a DC book, so there you go.
 
Marvel absolutley demolishes DC in the movie department, though, even what with Nolan reviving the Bat-franchise.  The Avengers was just freaking amazing.

I wouldn't be surprised if DC are working on copying Marvel and producing the movies themselves.
 
Some people think including Vertigo is "cheating" as Marvel doesn't have an equivalent, but Fables on Vertigo is almost certainly the best comic currently being produced.

I've actually heard rumors that the upcoming Flash and Superman movies are going to lead into a Justice League film in 2015 or so, like Marvel did with the Avengers franchise.  It's still just a rumor, though, and if they did do that they'd have to reboot Batman again. Disapprove

Does anybody remember Devilman? It was a black-and-white series about a superhero who behaved a lot like Batman (like swinging from house to house on a rope).. But he had one handicap: He was blind. My brother used to read that series.

They've already confirmed that Batman will be rebooted after this film. Bale's going and Ledger's death messed up their intentions for the Joker. Starting again will sort things out.
 
What really made me cross was Green Lantern. Green Lantern has fantastic material for a series of movies, but they just screwed it up. The problem wasn't Reynolds- I think he was a good choice actually. The problem was a rotten script and clueless direction.
 
BF: Yes, that is Daredevil and as for "anyone remembering him", he is one of Marvel's most enduring characters and is quite regularly among their most critically acclaimed franchises.

Yes, I just looked it up. The German name for the series was "Devilman - Ein Teufelskerl". "Teufeskerl" is the German word for "Daredevil".

BF: Daredevil was actually kind of crappy originally- it was one of two titles (the other being X-Men) that had run for years and were nearing cancellation. Some new staffers at Marvel wanted a place to stretch their muscles and Marvel figured that because Daredevil and X-Men weren't selling well anyway, there was nothing to lose. Frank Miller was given Daredevil, Chris Claremont given X-Men and both were virtually free of editorial mandate as there wasn't much of a sales base to worry about preserving. Virtually overnight, X-Men became Marvel's biggest seller and Daredevil its biggest critical hit as the books were completely reinvented, breaking away from the once-refreshing-but-now-stale "Marvel Method" of Stan Lee.
 
Frank Miller's Daredevil run (Vol 1 158-191) is necessary reading for anyone who wants to understand the recent evolution of comics and is still considered one of the highpoints of superhero tales. But the character has remained critically respected with a run of writers (Kevin Smith, Brian Bendis, Ed Brubaker, Andy Diggle) that have kept the comic worthwhile. (OK so Shadowland was a bit pants but it was no Fear Itself.)
