I'll probably forget some, but some of my favorite prog/prog-metal bands I've seen:

Rush
Yes
Kansas
Dream Theater
Porcupine Tree
Opeth
Dixie Dregs
Symphony X
Queensryche
The Steve Morse Band

and some favorite prog-related bands:

Kamelot
Evergrey
Nightwish
King's X
Sonata Arctica

& bands I've seen that aren't favorites:

Marillion
Mastodon
BTBAM
Dillinger Escape Plan
Spock's Beard

prog/prog metal bands that are still together that I'd like to see someday:

Vanden Plas
Seventh Wonder
Myrath
Threshold
Circus Maximus

I've only seen Threshold from that list, and Vanden Plas would be on my wishlist.

/edit: oops, I didn't see you'd already mentioned Evergrey - I wasn't taken by their studio albums initially but they were impressive live.

What was Steve Lukather like? I like him with Toto and the Triumvirat album Russian Roulette, but have never heard him solo

Kinda... but no.

It´s King Crimson. I have seen Fripp with G3 (horrible show) and with the League of guitarist (great show). I have seen Trey Gunn (mindblowing) and Tony Levin (with Gabriel, boring as hell)... but never King Crimson Cry

I saw Rush last year, at the Bell Center here in Montreal.
It was great !

I saw Supertramp too, at the Bell Center again, and I must say that I loved the show, more than the Rush show (even If Im a bigger Rush fan overall), they were just at the top of their shape.

But I would absolutely love to see Symphony X live, its my favorite band, I know every tune by heart (or almost!).
I wish they come to Montreal soon.

I would also love to see Dream Theater.

Did you see Fripp tour with Joe Satriani and Steve Vai?  Fripp opened the Chicago show playing his Soundscapes stuff, and a wild-man guitarist (later found out to be Mike Keneally) was playing all sorts of Robert Fripp-like distortion-guitar leads on top of the sound loops!!

It was INCREDIBLE!!  By far, the best music of the night, and an insight for a new way to use Soundscapes!!  Keneally sounded just like the RF of LTIA days, blew my mind!   Keneally came back onstage later & played with Satriani's band, quite a jaw-dropping performance....two Zappa alums going at it!

I met Keneally at a local music shop & asked him if any of that were filmed or recorded, and he said that, sadly, it wasn't.

Anyway, sorry you missed Crimso, they never disappointed!  I saw LTIA in Chicago (no Miur, sadly) with, uh, Peter Frampton opening!!   Didn't see them again until Discipline tour (by that time, I knew Fripp personally), missed the Beat show in Chicago because the outdoor venue was flooded, caught 3 of a Perfect Pair in Minneapolis, Thrak in Chicago, and then I lost track of them all.  Sadly, I missed SBB and Red tours!  Can't have it all.

Saw RF with Soundscapes many times, he should have soloed over his loops like he used to with the Revox Frippertronics!!  I've seen Belew a bunch of times, so many that he sort of recognizes me when he sees me.  Met Broof once, kind of a comedian....

Thank God for all the amazing video that survived those times!!  Here, dig this!!

hey, Chuck, i know i've said this before, but i'll say it again, it must have been totally awesome when you saw Triumvirat open for Fleetwood Mac in the seventies!Thumbs Up And considering it was the band with the Jurgen Fritz, Helmut Koellen, and Hans Bathelt lineup-man, i bet that is a memory you will hold on to.

Oh yeah Hawkwind and More Hawkwind i first saw them at the Reading festival 1975 and have lost count how many times i have seen them since.  would be well over 500 times in so many various settings festivals small clubs  etc one  my fav venue's  to see the hawks was always Hammersmith Odean they always did good gigs there.

Then  there the gig i saw them do on flatbed truck in  laybye at the side of the Rd and of course the wonderful and infamous Treworgey Tree Fair  there really isn't nothing like a Hawkwind Gig.

Will have to sit have a think and make a list of all the Porg bands i have seen over years memory not what it was haha.

will be back with said list later . also have to give a shout out to the Gong Family which also  seen many times over the years and in many different guises .

I've seen my favourite band, Porcupine Tree. Also seen Opeth, another of my favourites.

Still want to see Dream Theater.
Hello, mirror. So glad to see you, my friend. It's been a while...

Don't know how I missed Mr. Bungle.  Saw 'em twice - once in the "masked" era, and once on the California tour with the Dillinger Escape Plan opening.

Sorry i did not address your question above about the TSO until now. Are you referring to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra? If so, yeah, that would count

I recall writing this down before, but maybe not here on PA:

1. Saw Kansas a few times between 1976-1978
2. Saw Yes - GFTO tour, 1977.  Absolutely, the BEST concert I ever remember!
3. Saw Camel in 1978.
4. Saw UK as an opener for Jethro Tull, 1979.
5. Saw Peter Gabriel a couple of times, 1982-1984.

Then, I got married in 1985 and never had extra money to go see concerts anymore...

Unfortunately, I am too young to have seen most of my favorite bands at their peak, or even at all. I have, however, seen Yes twice and Rush twice. I'm going to see Tull on their upcoming tour, and I hope that that'll be a good show. I would also love to see PT live.

Nope, though I saw a band that was (at the time) my favorite, Magma.  Awesome, awesome show.  Cardiacs don't play live because of Tim's illness, so I can't ever see my current favorite live. Cry

Devin Townsend live was utterly amazing, too.
