So what do you guys think?

I really like the cover a lot. Can't wait for this one.

Ehh, I don't think the album art is fantastic.  I'll be excited to get it either way, though.

I didn't at first, but its grown on me. Besides, this is an early version. Who knows? It might
change. I like the color scheme, in particular.

I like everything but the type used for the title.  If I was doing it MY way, I'd just make the logo bigger and leave it wordless except for Magma.

I like it! Is the source reliable though?

Don't want to get excited over nothing.

The Kohntarkosz blog generally only posts things from reliable sources, yes.

It's a nice shade of blue.  Kind of atypical for Magma, who normally deals in more severe colors like brown and black and red.

Yeah it's a bit of a change up. But I like the color, the font a bit less.

Does Magma actually have an official site? I get all of my news from the blog.

I like the font a lot, actually. But this is an early version, so maybe the font will change.

This art reminds me of some covers for "arty bands" from the 90's.
Not sure if I would call this "minimal and sober" or "lazy" (yes, it's a bit harsh).

Its better than any covers I've designed for bands...

But then, Magma always did like plain covers. Let the music speak.

Horrible typeface, but it's still marginally better than the recently unveiled Anglagard cover.

There's some extracts up on their website here.

Magma's never well-served by excerpts, but I can't say those made much of an impression. And at about 32 minutes for the whole album... well, I never expected to be this underwhelmed at the prospect of a new Magma album!

Sounds like more exciting music from Christian Vander, to me. Why are we so apprehensive about new releases from classic bands around here? Let's just enjoy the fact that Vander still feels like there's something for him to say.

It would appear also, that I'm the only one who actually likes the new cover art, even the hand-written style of the font.

I'm not, as a rule, apprehensive about new releases from old bands and certainly not when it comes to Magma. I adored K.A. and thought E-Re was pretty spiffy too (though perhaps not quite up to the same standard). I was merely saying that the actual content of those clips didn't really grab me and coupled with the pretty lean overall length of the album left me feeling a lot more underwhelmed than I'd expected.

It seems strange to me that they chose not to record more of the swathes of Magma material which they've been playing live for years but remain without a studio release. A studio version of Theusz Hamtaahk or Sl*g Tanz would have really helped to beef up what's looking to be a pretty lightweight record.

Of course, I could be wrong and when I hear the piece as a whole it may well blow me away. But for now, I'm a lot less excited than I thought I'd be!

Perhaps, with this being a short record, Vander will do a followup very soon. My guess is that Magma, thanks to online sites such as this one, are probably more successful than ever and would probably stand to gain from new music now, more than ever.

Don't care about the cover, I want the album and mostly I want them to start playing live often, again. I miss them.

It's certainly more of an ep in todays world. Hate that it will e full price.

Oh well...should still be a good album. I like the piece in concert (though I liked Sl*g better)
