As a Bungles fan, I'm ecstatic at the thought of Suggs being out for the season. It's about time we expose Ray for the old man he is and Flacco for being an overrated QB.
Also, I don't think the punishment for Vilma was too harsh. This is a guy who was supposedly throwing 10 grand out of his own pocket for the big hits on Warner and Favre. And with him getting closer to the end of his career, I think it hurts him even more. Now that being said, I think there's going to be a crisis within the next 10 year or so in football as more info begins to come out about head injuries. Kurt Warner came out and said he doesn't want his sons playing football, which is horrible PR for the NFL. And I think it was Peter King who tweeted a question asking how many parents woke up to hear about the Bounty-gate penalties and Junior Seau on the same day, and decided "My kids will never play football." Tl;dr: Glad Suggs is out. Wilma got what he deserved. I predict football will drop in popularity due to how unsafe the game has become. |

haha Well one thing the NFL can be sure of, it won't be me who's paying this bounty, I can't afford to go out for food at the moment I've actually heard that for a few years David. They claimed fewer kids were playing football because parents were less willing to expose them to the risk, instead choosing soccer and lacrosse...which they say were really ballooning in popularity. Especially in Texas where football is like a religion. Not sure if that was/is true, or even how accurate the overall statement "fewer parents want their kids playing football" but yeah. It does seem a bit reactionary, and one the big reasons people piss me off is because we are reactionary and don't think football is what it is. Why would you care more now? Because there are "more" injuries or you're more aware?? It's sad when you hear the news we do but you must have some idea...a bit of a knee jerk reaction IMO. It's odd to hear Warner say that, but if he was targeted with this bounty gate maybe he's just generally upset. Ugh IDK, this is why we need the season to start! On the news of injuries....Eric LeGrand, the kid from Rutgers who got paralyzed a couple of years ago, was signed by the Buccs. Of course this is symbolic, and Greg Schiano was the coach of Rutgers the past few years, but guess it's a feel good story.
I didn't go to Rutgers but both dudes are pretty much heroes around here. |

Bengals had such a good draft. You might be able to steal some games with the injury. |

And speaking of Bengals, we finally addressed some need at LB by taking Keith Rivers off your hands.
Can't say I follow the Bengals but him I know, isn't he a bust? Or was he just average after other worldly expectations? Either way a 5th rounder given up...guess it's not too bad if he flops. |

I think the Bengals dropped some players they were glad to see go on the Cowboys and Giants.

Yeah...pretty sure the few times I ever hear his name is "why does this guy suck?"
Sad thing is if he's OK it may be a step up from some of what we have, but gawd....might as well keep it home brewed when you resort to picking up Keith Rivers Edited by JJLehto - May 04 2012 at 13:07 |

I think the Giants will be fine at LB honestly.

Well it is a good point for parents to have their kids avoid football for injury reasons.....not only concussions but the severe breaking of bones or even death from head collisions.
I coach lacrosse and my kids do play, it is probably one of the greatest sports to play. Probably the fastest sport on two feet.....Still have the possibility of concussion, it is a contact sport once you get past the 6th grade.
Texas is becoming the mecca of lacrosse for crossover players from football......Plus the chances of attending college is pretty high, and good schools too.
NCAA lacrosse players are some of the highest % graduating athletes with degrees and some of the most succesful beyond school.
And around here youth football is pretty selective, its a club sport and usually only the coaches friends kids play a lot..I have families who tried it and hated it beacuse of all the favoritism being played.....I am sure that is not everywhere, but our lacrosse club has almost doubled in size the past 2 years.
I'm happy!

Well I guess that report was correct, lacrosse is on the up and up...and Texas is the football mecca of America so maybe all hope is lost When all the current NFL players are retired the sport shall die and lacrosse becomes our new national hobby.

Morbid curiosity (and a bit of hero worship) had to see the Eli Manning SNL opening.
It was actually less painful and awkward than I imagined, they must've spent a whole day working it! But damn, he is not charismatic I give him kudos for trying and at least he doesn't sound like a redneck like Peyton |

Yeah, I think the players we let go either had underperformed or were starting to get up there in years. I think they took the best pure cornerback this year in Dre Kirkpatrick, even if he does have some physical issues (like needing to put on a bit more weight), but given he's one of Nick Saban's kids, I think he's pretty much NFL-ready material, as well as Devon Still.
Honestly, I'm really happy with how the Bengals have drafted for the last 2 years. They're setting themselves up for a good decade's-worth of success. And I never thought I'd see this team do that. |

Indeed. The Bungels I think are definitely on the rise. At least they are putting themselves in a very good position.

The Bungles will fall short as long as Marvin Lewis is their coach. Thankfully, they keep rehiring him.

At least Andy Dalton has enough class to not rape college girls in bathrooms. But seriously, if he keeps developing the way he is, and they give him enough pieces (which it seems like they're trying), he's going to have a hell of a career as a QB. Also, I've given Marvin garbage when he deserves it, but the guy is clearly worthy of being a head coach in the NFL. He's a great defensive mind too. He just has to compete in the same division as the Steelers and the Ravens. Edited by horsewithteeth11 - May 06 2012 at 20:46 |

I didn't learn much from it, but I thought Brandon Marshall wrote a nice op-ed piece here for the Chicago Sun-Times.

Don't the Steelers prove you don't need a good coaching staff to win championships? |

I'm content knowing that Bungles fans are fine with Marvin. Hope they stay that way. The cheapshot at Ben is off topic and does nothing to advance Dalton's woth, by the way. I do think Dalton is a good QB. One that would be better off playing under a coach that fostered growth instead of enabling destruction.... (Here's your return cheap shot): Why, just ask Chris Henry if he'd have been better off without all Marvin's help.

They did manage to overcome Cowher's schottenheimer disease once and Arian's have-no-idea-what-I'm-f**king-doing disease once. I don't think highly of Tomlin but I don't think he's a bad coach. Trusting your coordinators is fine if you can hire capable ones. His major mistake was letting Arians hang around when he was clearly hapless. Frankly, I have no idea what Tomlin does during games because he's not calling offensive plays (background as a defensive coach, and all) and Lebeau has total control on the defensive side. Mostly just stands there looking like Omar Epps in House. Edited by manofmystery - May 06 2012 at 22:15 |

Eli on SNL was pretty good I thought........better than most athletes who try it......Except for Charles Barkley, he owns SNL as an athlete.
The Eli skit in the courtroom was pretty funny.
Talking about morbid curiosity.....interested in the Tampa deal with Jordan Jefferson from LSU, big kid, strong arm and fast....I am sure they are looking at a wildcat offense with him.
