Oh wow, I was about to say
"I'm afraid to post this" but I see you guys are actually nice this time ![]() I didn't post earlier because I was afraid of positive reaction from Scott...which would've caused me to mail some bombs to Detroit ![]() Obviously quite upset about Mo, especially that this is how his career is going to end... Not right, but I guess fairy tale endings are for fairy tales. Still, dude shoulda just retired after last year! |

^Why? He was still a top 5 relief pitcher last season.

Yes, but you see Pat...I am upset at this news, so I am taking a normal human reaction and using 20/20 hindsight!
In my head world Mo is currently retired a legend, and not hobbled on a bum ACL ![]() Obvs he was still doing fine as of this year and it's just a sh*tty deal. |

Ah I see. Sports have a way of bringing about powerful denial.

Yeah it's great right?
Indeedily what can ya do? Not like it diminishes his career. Besides the core four all need to retire one day, even though Pettitte is making a comeback actually ![]() |

You Damn Yankee fans are really in for a treat. You really haven't lived until you've had a closer come in with a 3-run lead and proceed to walk the first 3 guys to load the bases with nobody out. |

Is there a way to find Mariano Rivera's career stats against the Tigers? Just curious. In the game the other day against the Mariners our announcers mentioned that the Tigers hadn't scored anything in the last decade against the Mariners' closer, along with Joe Nathan and Mariano Rivera. It certainly seemed as though we always went out 1-2-3 againt Mariano Rivera. I was just curious to see what his career stats were against us.

Damn, just heard about Rivera. I'm a Yankees fan and I think that's awful news. I don't like talking about sports as much as I do music (obviously), but that news really got to me.
I'm seeing the Mets tonight at Citi Field (I call it sh*tty Field, but...) Hopefully it'll be a fun game. A couple friends of mine are Mets fans and they had an extra ticket, so why not. I don't "hate" the Mets, they're just a bad team. ![]() Edited by darkshade - May 04 2012 at 15:05 |

I'll be at the Tigers' game tonight, but then again it is my home away from home, so when they play at home, I am usually there.

Never knew Darkshade. I assumed DT was your sports, school and love life
![]() Indeed, this is the sh*ts about Mo...sucks it was this way. Amazing that even though he's declined in recent years (and he has) he was still one of the better closers in the entire MLB. Scott is right, Yankee fans (especially being the crazed bunch we are) have to take a step back and realize we can't hold anyone else to Mo's standards. Even if someone is a top 10 they won't compare... Good news is Robertson seems poised to take over the closer role and he was dynamite as an 8th inning guy. Damn good. |

![]() I never felt the rivalry myself, it's just like beating up on a baby...it'd just be brutal to do so. I wouldn't mind getting a met game. I've not been to any in forever and I can't fork out the $80 for a Yankee ticket ![]() Plus cost of getting to the Bronx of course Edited by JJLehto - May 04 2012 at 15:25 |

Yea I just like talking music here on PA more. My friends like to talk sports a lot, so that's where that energy goes to.
I can't hate the Mets, I feel sorry for them too much. The Red Sox on the other hand........ |

I may be wrong but wasn't that faked we found out?
edit: Maybe I'm dumb...why would his ankle be bloody anyway?? Yeah Scott it's gunna suck having to actually ordeal through saves...but like I said Mo has declined a bit. He's human now. Not like a few years back when you could nap through it be assured of a save. All seriousness what can ya do? Edited by JJLehto - May 04 2012 at 16:01 |

I don't believe that was the reason.
Must've danced to hard trying to summon the baseball spirits while he cut himself for blood payment. I wouldn't be surprised, those Bostonians are paranoid as f**k. A 17 game lead wouldn't be enough for em... Yeah that 2004 series will always live in infamy. Double bad too, because the Cardinals are my #2 team ![]() Edited by JJLehto - May 04 2012 at 16:11 |
