I was hoping for something legit though ideally not too difficult, so cool. Figured you of all would have some. I will probably pass on Paul then, for now. Should've thought about Friedman ![]() Thanks a lot man. Edited by JJLehto - February 27 2012 at 16:04 |

Ron Paul's work on the matter is nice, but it's more of a populist low-level explanation than anything else. A nice easy text while still being formal is Murray Rothbard's The Case Against the Fed. You can read it for free through the link. It goes through the Fed's function, its history, and reasons for eliminating it. That's obviously taking the stand against it. For something more pro, there's a largely influential work which deserves reading: Milton Friedman and Anna Schwartz's: A Monetary History of the United States 1867-1960. You could read Bernanke's intro-macro economics textbook for a nice intro, and obviously pro, to banking and the Fed. I actually learned from Bernanke's textbook: Principles of Macroeconomics written in conjunction with Robert Frank. |

I think provolone on a cheesesteak to be something of an abomination.

Libertarian friends!
I've been thinking about the Fed. Well, more like I've thinking about the price of everything and how it keeps skyrocketing. It's something that really chokes middle America, I know my family made some changes for 2012 to be in a better financial situation but the price of living has negated it largely. I never really gave it thought, but isn't the Fed like...supposed to help with that stuff? I'll admit, I really don't know much about it except generalities. Soooo recommend me some reads gentlemen. I'm open right now, not necessarily removing it, but changing it maybe, but I just want some info. What it does, impacts, theories on how it could be better (or what'd happen if removed outright). I'm all ears right now. I know Ron Paul has written on the matter. edit: please no anti fed rants at the moment either ![]() Edited by JJLehto - February 27 2012 at 14:51 |

Rhetorical, of course, but brilliant response as always!
I know Paul wasn't so concerned with "winning" states anyway and had a strategy so we'll see. Which reminds me should get off my ass and register Rep, got till May but why wait? Never thought I'd say those words in my lifetime. Or that it would be for Ron Paul. If all this isn't a sign of the apocalypse I don't know what is. Edited by JJLehto - February 27 2012 at 10:41 |

People who propose change will always be kept down and always have been aside from the few epochs in human history when the the perfect set of circumstances coincided to make the ground fertile for new ideas.

Yo bro, if you ever get out to State College, you got a suggestion right there.
Also I assume Paul is still being kept down? I hate that Maddow but at least she's spoken of Paul's strategy, the bias against him and how he was screwed over in Maine. From MSNBC! Wonder if Fox would ever talk of it ![]() |

Yeah but I've still never had an edible cheesesteak outside of Philadelphia. It's a real stretch to imagine finding a good one.

Yo, it's not cheese sauce; it's cheese wiz. There's a big difference, and I highly recommend it.
Brian's lying. Actually, probably not lying just delusional. Pat's makes some good stuff, but it's mostly just a tourist trap. You get to order in a funny way and see the pictures of all the celebrities who've eaten there. For the real steak, the semi-orgasmic life altering experience, you go here ![]() The roast pork is even better than the cheesesteak though. I would say the roast pork is probably the true philly sandwich. |

I forget, I'm pretty sure I got "regular" cheese and not the sauce (though I was told the latter was more traditional) but yeah, CC Peppers in State College (which is run by a bunch of Bostonians) had superior cheesesteaks!

Not to be a dick but I was there and quite unimpressed. I've had better cheesesteaks outside Phlly! Well, at least outside of that place, there may be other less known ones in the city that are better. Edited by JJLehto - February 25 2012 at 17:21 |

Oh no, this was a competition among students. Fortunately no heart attacks were had. Brings to mind a riddle: What's worse more, a pound of butter or a pound of beer? |

I stopped listening to the USDA and the FDA a long time ago. Like most aspects of our current system, major corporations have too much influence. In this case, the pharmaceutical and dairy industries seem to be the groups that drive policy.
