There will never truly be any such thing as a post-steroid era... Steroids exist. No matter we do to try to prevent them, we're never going to cause them to cease to exist, and because they exist, they will be used.

If you get a chance to pick up this week's Sports Illustrated (Sporstman of the year, Pat Summitt and Coach K on cover), they have an excellent article chronicling the last day of the regular season. I'm a Rays fan and was in a hotel room in Minneapolis with an early morning business appointment. But I stayed up until the bitter end and it was unbelievable as most of you know. Great article, except for maybe Red Sox and Brave fan.

But that's old news.
Back in the 90s Bill Hicks was already making fun of how California will slide into the ocean. And let's be honest, do we really need their baseball teams? :P It could be all media sensation but I remember hearing that in LA supposedly no one really cares anyway. Like they go, they watch but its all "chill man" Edited by JJLehto - December 14 2011 at 12:15 |

Starlin Castro last year made $414,000, the same as a scrub utility infielder. He led the National League in hits (207). Pretty good deal for the Cubs. Letting Aramis Ramirez slip away wasn't too smart though. Especially to a team in their division, the Brewers.

What would we Common Joe's have gotten if we had obstructed justice?

Yeah, Starlin Castro is one of the best bargains in the entire league... I wish that the Braves would trade Jason Heyward for him. |

As much as I hate Barry Bonds he shouldn't have been in that position in the first place. Congress' involvement in baseball is a joke as is their involvement in eveything else. |

Should Torrealba's punishment extend to the MLB in some way?

Did anyone happen to see Justin Verlander on the Conan show last night? He was promoting MLB 2012, for which he is on the cover. It was a pretty funny interview.

I went to a brunch for season ticket holders with Dave Dombrowski on Saturday, and he was asked about Prince Fielder. He started by saying he wanted to say things off of the record and then decided the better of it. What he did say though was that Fielder really wasn't an option because they were looking for a short-term solution to replace Victor Martinez and Fielder wanted a long-term deal.
