It would rank higher on my list if the middle Tatooine part didn't weigh it down.  The beginning and end were awesome.  The whole podracing thing and the buildup to it was Sleepy.

How the f**k does A New Hope win this poll, with its horrible acting, black-a d-white cartoonish characters and close-to-zero story?

I know it's the first one and I love it but I love it because it was the first of a series of films I really enjoy, but nowadays I see it as the most boring of all 6.

A New Hope certainly isn't my favorite Star Wars movie, but I'll vehemently disagree with the notion that it has "close-to-zero story"... It's pretty much an exact replica of the Joseph Campbell monomyth story pattern; one of the most famous storylines in literature.

and I'd have to say you are quite right, though I'm not sure that really matters--  I think taken as a whole, the SW saga is successful, it's just certain sections are tedious; for me those sections are between leaving Hoth and partying with the Ewoks (that dreadful redone song&dance in Jabba's palace makes me physically ill)

Wink I could totally see that happening if they ever made it - think it's a fake - but I did hear/read somewhere that he is suing someone over potential 'real' light sabers ?

Still, if I were a disgustingly rich man I'd fund them to make this
