The Tigers did it! No more friggin' Yankees!  Man, the Delmon Young and Fister pick-ups late in the season were big time acquisitions!

Will preface with that:

Why why why do people still use the "big money" excuse to hate on the Yanks? What f**kin good has it done? 1 WS?
The playoffs every year? Other teams have managed the same with less, and the Rays have won the division 2 out of 4 now with a budget WAY under the Yanks and Sahx. Not that getting to the playoffs every year just to lose first round is an accomplishment.
So STFU people, or jut admit why you really hate em.

Besides I, (and I'm guessing many other Yankee fans) hate the "big money, big name"  style as much as anyone.

/Rant 1 over.
/Rant 2 begin:

Sigh....I'm not surprised at all. I had no faith, no feeling for this series. The moment Game 2 ended I had the gut feeling it was over. Same sh*t different year: Team of great players who blow it when it counts.

The team I grew up with in the 90's wasn't this star studded team. They were good and some very good players who were a true team and stepped up their game. Post season they turned it up, and did what was needed.
This team, god what a joke. Great players but they never step up...11 people stranded on base last night.
Except for 09 A-rod has choked every post season. Tix has been a bust, Swisher drops off a cliff...and the first 2 have become increasingly fruitless during regular season.

Big money, big names does not work management! I need to get a petition going LOL quit torturing us loyal fans.

Wow! No east coast teams left with the elimination of Philly. I am actually stunned that they lost. A rematch of the Cards and Tigers would be nice. But the Tigers need to play like 1968, not 2006.

Yeah, it should be a great series. I'm hoping the Tigers can pull off another one.

You can take losing, sh*t happens and hey, all credit to Detroit, and Texas looks damn tough but sheesh.
Year after year  we have to watch $200 million burn up on the field. I'm just kinda fed up about that aspect, how long they gunna throw the house at this team just so we can choke 1st round?

Made worse that we gotta constantly hear "baaaaaaaaw nice team you bought"
I believe in 2011 the phillies are #2 with $172 mill, Boston #3 with $160 mill
Because those are deff not massive payrolls or anything Ermm

I thought the Doc would have been enough, but even the best need some hitting.  Props to Carpenter.

I have played baseball since about the 4th grade....I played some college ball.....but for the last 15 years I've been playing adult baseball in Seattle and Maryland leagues. I have been to many places to play in tournaments, winning ONE championship in Phoenix back in 2003 among many talented teams from all over that go to these tourneys in the 28+ age divisions. A lot of these teams have many ex college players and a few ex MLB players.....very competitive.

When it comes to these tourneys, you have to have your A game every single inning of every game or you will find yourself not in the playoffs.
Our normal season ended in Sept and our Seattle team went 18-6......we were 13-0 before our first loss. We lost in the playoffs 2nd round.......the team that won the championship was a 5th place team.

My point is who cares what your record is in the regular season....if you don't bring it in the post season it does not matter.....Its a failure not to win the championship.

The Yankees didn't win because they could not perfom when it mattered...period. Regardless of their payroll.......but baseball fans will always harp on the money because they put themselves out there like that......Does A-Rod deserve $25million a year after his horrid performance in game5? Not for me to answer but we can sure as heck talk about it till the cows come home!

In every case, in every sport the best team always wins when it comes to the playoffs.......especially in a series based game, you have to win more games, simple as that.

Go Detroit!!!!!!!!!!!
