Base running errors for an MLB player should be highly fined by the team.

I'm sort of at peace with the situation, in that if we can't win at home with Doc then the Cards earned it.

Yep, and with our best pitchers Verlander versus Sabbathia going tonight the team that deserves to win....oh wait...that didn't happen because the weather people in New York were idiots and f**ked up the whole series by allowing them to start game 1 because it wasn't going to rain. Angry

It's hard to really be mad at Utley. He was aggressive. I liked the play. Howard has been an out machine, so it's not like he killed us by taking a man out of scoring position. Being on third, I'm much more confident in Howard being able to hit a fly ball. Plus, he's been one of the few people on the team consistently on base. basically his play didnt affect the game.

Well I'm trying to lower my blood pressure.  This series hasn't been good for my health.

I've lost enough weight recently that I have been able to get off of my blood pressure medicine, but the Yankees-Tigers series may put me back on it. LOL

For those that don't have a horse in any of these races (or Texas fans) it's been an awesome first round.

It's been an awesome first round for us too I think. We just can't appreciate it until tomorrow is over (with a win that is).

Nahh....never make an out at 3rd...first, second or third out.......bad baseball, especially in the playoffs. And with Howard up and a runner on 2nd already in scoring position, you have to have confidence that a hitter like Howard will hit a hard gapper or at least a hard grounder which probably scores Utley from 2nd.

Water under the bridge though........They have to hit the ball tomorrow night.

I disagree. Yeah you never make an out at third as a general rule, but I have no confidence in Howard. He's lost at the plate.

Wow you Phillies fans are drama queens. Wink

Seriously though, I'm pulling for Doc to cure the ills of your fan base.  2 ex-Jays facing each other, but Carpenter only became great after leaving Toronto.

Maybe, but to be fair it is quite a bit of drama.

Carpenter is a very good pitcher, but he's nowhere near Doc's level.

Constantly losing in the largest variety of ways possible will turn you into a drama queen.

Carpenter was as good as anyone...3-4 years ago. The only game I went to this year he stunk it up.

But he occasionally still pulls a jem out of his wrinkly old....wait that's TMI.

Obviously the Phillies have an edge but I actually feel pretty good. Cards have nothing to lose, Phillies have been hearing Champs or bust all year. It's been a good series just in terms of enjoying watching baseball.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

He wasn't as good as Halladay 3-4 years ago. Except for in 2005. He really laid it on that year. That's not a slight at Carpenter. Halladay is just the best pitcher in the game.

I don't know Halladay well enough to say yay or nay. I've followed Carpenter a long time and there were games where he was just ice. I can't think of any Cardinal pitcher, certainly no starters, in my lifetime as dominant as he was at his peak. Most of the old guys around here just start talking about Bob Gibson when this conversation come up around here.

Clemens was the best pitcher I've ever seen pitch in a live game. He's tainted of course, but doesn't mean he wasn't good. I've always assumed juicing was less helpful for pitchers than power hitters. The HGH I assume would have definitely helped with the length of his career, but no chemical is going to help you work a strike zone.
