Just had a bit of a scoot around My Space, which I've had to sign onto now as an essential part of my team duties, and had a look at the Marillion page.

For those who are not terribly familiar with Hogarth era stuff (and, of course, for those of us who love it), there is a blinding video of them playing the exceptional Real Tears For Sale, taken from Out of Season.

An incredible performance of a track which has fast become one of my all time favourites from the band.

For those that haven't heard, the first Marillion North American tour in 8 years is going to be annouced on Oct 25 with cities and dates.  Would be nice to spread the word around and sell out the shows, they Deserve, not a pun, it. Could be a chance to meet some fans from here on the archives.  I'll be at a West Coast show, hopefully Seattle but I'll go to LA if I have to but I hate the traffic though I love the low spark of high heel boys, sorry off topic.  kenmar

I hope they come to Michigan.  Apparently, the last time that they were here they were an opening act for Rush, but it was before I was a fan of Rush or had started attending concerts.

Hoping for a Chicago date, but I'd make Grand Rapids. Not that big a fan of Detroit...

Latest e-bulletin from the band:

Well that was our Indian Summer then...now back to the good old British weather.

The last few weeks have been really productive for the five of us. We went away with Mike H, to a secret location near Bath for a week in residential splendour, and very nice it was too. This wasn't just us finding a way to get out from under our other half's feet, but focused us on a week in the diary that we wanted to work towards. We went away with all of the ideas we have decided would be good enough to include on the next album. These range from various bits and pieces, through verse and chorus ideas, right up to one or two almost complete songs, if we decided to record them that way.
Armed with this musical ammunition we all chose favourites and started working on the ones that had the backing of all five of us. We obviously want to work on songs and music that inspires us all.

After the week away we had something like 10 or 12 musical ideas that we have titles for and loose arrangements of maybe half of them.
We even have a possible title for the album. But more of that at another time.

So on paper it all looks pretty good at the moment. Of course it is always easy to talk the talk and in reality we still have lots of music and lyrical ideas that we will want to work on and not leave out of the pot. But, I think all of us at the controls of the thing would agree it is moving swiftly along in the right direction and that does wonders for a positive mental state and a few less sleepless nights.

Hope to see you on tour somewhere soon.
If not, wrap up warm and keep out of the rain.

Pete.

Awesome, sounds like they're taking a careful approach to composing the next album.

I adore Marillion.com. It has one of their greatest (I think) tracks in Interior Lulu and is just altogether a very strong Pop oriented record.

Wow, no love for 2001's Anoraknophobia? It's by far one of my favorite Marillion albums, from both eras. Smile

Yes Anorak is great. It was maybe the 2nd H album I heard. I was pretty much hooked from the exciting start of Between You and Me.

If it's not Brave, I'd love for the next featured album in 2013 be Anoraknophobia. Killer album.

C'mon Kenmar, all you'll need to bring is a coat-hanger. Or perhaps I could have Lucy move the week-end to January when it's -20, and we'll all be dressed as Anoraks !

Really curious to see the tour dates. I already know that I'll be traveling.

Where will they play in Montreal, Steve?

Watched the Saturday show from '09. What a magical night!

I thought they played at another venue in Montreal, though. I agree...The L'Olympia is the logical choice.

When they toured Marbles in 2004 they performed at The Spectrum, but given their history more recently with L'Olympia I think you fellows are right, they'll probably end up there. ( Aside from the fact that The Spectrum was torn down last year ).  L'Olympia has the added benefit of good sight lines from pretty much every spot, and it seems to be just the right size too !
